Yeah I know, I could do a search, but I wanted to do a new thread for the here and now of it.

Anybody out there have a Taurus PT-25? Are you happy with it? Does it load properly, stove pipe, plug up, jam, fail to feed or fire or extract? Is it ammo picky? Would you feel secure with it in your pocket as an ALWAYS (back-up or primary) carry gun?

thanks for your time

NO I have a PT-22 been back to factory . First time out wouldn't fire onlt about 1/2 the time and both thr grips cracked.:cuss: . You want a back up pocket gun then KelTec is only game in town. Un like the PT@@ my 3 KT worked right from the box.

I had a PT-22. It was my first handgun that I purchased myself because it was cheap.

Here's what I liked about it:
  • It fired the .22 LR, ammo was cheap
  • The way it fit in the hand
  • The Tip-up barrel was interesting
  • It's general reliability, misfires were rare
Here's what I HATED about it:
  • LONG DAO trigger
  • Magazines difficult to load, and the fact that the gun only came with one mag
  • The firing pin disappeared. Took Taurus 6 weeks to fix, but it was fixed and shipped back @ no charge
  • Inherent inaccuracy from such a short barrel and long DAO trigger

I wouldn't get one, there are much better Taurus pistols to spend your money on.

I'm a big Taurus fan, but not of the PT22/PT25 models. My firearms instructor has had women start his self-defense class with them, and by the end, all of them have traded it in for something else - they have to be kept exceptionally clean, and aren't particularly reliable.

The Walther P22 is a pretty good small gun. Kel Tecs are excellent for small guns.

Only concered with PT-25

I am only concerned with the .25 acp model as I had owned a 22LR model and was ok with it, but I decided I needed a S&W 22LR J-frame more. So I traded the pistol for the revolver. I am wanting a new mouse gun and have kinda considered the PT-25. I just wanted to know if anyone had real world experience with one.

So buy It If it works fine if not send it back .
But for money a Keltec in 32 a whole lot better gun
The trouble every one has had with the 22 will carry over to 25 as same basic gun Not a single good replie to the 22 what makes you think 25 will be better.

reply...

MikeT... not one good reply.Yeah but only four of 'em, so, so far no dice on me giving up the question yet. Besides, the .25 is stright case versus the rimmed .22 and therefore the .25 has an extractor (yes? no? i've never seen a physical specimen I could handle) and will be more likely to perform "better", i.e. no rimlock or cases denting....need I go on?
