I recently handled one of these beauties and had to have one. So......now I'm the proud new owner of my very first inline.

I've been shooting flinters for years but I've never messed around with this new fangled stuff. Is anyone shooting a Katahdin or a standard Encore 209X50 Magnum? It seems pretty straight forward.

Any tips, suggestions, experiences would be appreciated.

Our early muzzleloader season is long over (took a very nice doe with my .54 Lyman) so I'm going to have to innaugurate this little beast during regular rifle season.

I know its been a while since you posted on your Katahdin but now that you have had it a while how do you like it??

I recently picked up an Encore with the intention of going BP hunting with it next year and maybe getting a katahdin barrel for elk this year.

So far so good. I haven't had the opportunity to really shoot it like I would like to. I have a whole bunch of powder and various bullets and very little time!
I will be doing some experimentation and load developement with it this summer. I will be sure to post the results. So far, 2-3 moa is the norm. I expect that with a bit of tweaking it will do better. It sure does handle well!

So you got the 20 inch? BP barrell??

I will be very interested to hear your results. I am going to pick up the .450 Marlin barrel for Elk this fall.

Depending on what I hear about the short BP barrell I may try one of those next fall. That very short, light rifle, is very appealling when you have to haul it around at 9000 feet!

That 450 should be keeper. My favorite hunting rifle is my Marlin 1885G in 45-70. The Encore should be even handier.
