Ted Nugent's wife arrested at airport with gun

I'll bet some serious money Ms. Nugent is going to be targeted ! If a non-entity like George Zimmerman can evoke the "wrath of Obama, just think what political hay he can make persecuting the spouse of one of his most vocal critics (and NRA Director) Ted Nugent. But look for all of it to be sub rosa with plenty of intermediary fall guys between. Hell, the DOJ may even decide to create a secret E-mail trail to further distance the White House. >MW

We will likely never know what she was thinking. The real point of the story, we all should grow up and understand that carrying a firearm is a personal responsibility. That includes being aware of having it on, or with you, at all times.

Anyone think this could have been planned?

Perhaps they're planning to sue for full right to keep and bear arms independent of limits imposed by contracts (which is how they justify many of these airline rules via "unlimited right to contract"). They certainly have the money for it.

All I can say is that for those of us who've been safely involved with guns (not eek!GUH-UHNS!eek!) for most of their lives, it is perfectly possible to forget that a gun is in one's pack or pocket or glovebox or whatever.

This, without being an "irresponsible" gun owner and user.

I must say that those who are shocked and indignant at incidents like this have fallen victim to the long-term constant and ongoing propaganda that guns are inherently evil.

Rough words, but that's my opinion and you'd be hard pressed to change my mind.

They're just guns, not eek!GUH-UHNS!eek!

It's complacency, pure and simple...

If carrying concealed is so casual to people, I don't think they should do it.

Having a deadly weapon on your person is a big deal and should ALWAYS be treated as such.

I also reject the frequently put forth supposition that if you haven't had a ND yet, you will.
Great post.

I reject that logic...

BS
Weak post.

A gun is a tool. Your grandparents, if not your parents, didn't get scanned and groped did they? I've gone into an airport and then had to ask if the little pocket-cliping pocket knife I was carrying that can be opened with one hand was illegal.

When did common place for law-abiding, good, citizens become complacence? When a bureacrat made them criminals overnight!? Baaahhh... I assure you Mrs. Nugent wasn't going to hijack the plane, wasn't going to shoot anyone who didn't deserve it, and I have every confidence she'd make the right decision and an accurate shot if she had to.

I've been carrying legally for over 35 years and I've always had the highest level of awareness regarding my firearms and my location. The idea that one who has responsibility for a loaded firearm could casually 'forget' that they have it on their person is absurd. If you don't know where your firearms are at all times, let alone those that are loaded, then you should NOT be carrying OR in possession of same...
