Texas/Georgia/Montana CHL Reciprocity

It would be nice if the State of GA would at a minimum let us Police Officers know this, wouldn’t ya think?
Ya’ll be careful out there especially around the bigger metros and Macon, (big anti-gun bigot is mayor) there are some of my fellow brothers and sisters don’t have a clue what a CHL for this state looks like, imagine what will happen if you are caught toting and present a Texas or Montana CHL.

A friend of mine carries a 3-ring binder around in his car, with the latest Internet updates from the appropriate office in each state that his state has reciprocity with. Not a bad idea, esp. if Officer Ineverheardofit pulls you over.

Outstanding. Anyone know what the hold up is with Colorado? That's supposed to have been in the works for awhile.

Well, Sam I see where you are coming from and I fully understand but a 3-ring binder full of internet updates won’t keep you out of jail, save you a couple of grand in attorneys fees because our state failed to educate all of its officers adequately.
In the end you would win the case but at what cost?
When it would be easier for GA to just issue a memo, make it mandatory that each department require every officer to read and sign said memo.
Hell, every time the city passes a new ordinance they do this, but alas I forget the city thinks we are taxmen not Peace Officers.
They would much rather me cite you for violation of the city water ban or unsightly residence because your grass was over 8 inches tall or disorderly house because you had two unregistered automobiles in the yard or a junk pile in the back.
God forbid they actually want me to enforce the law correctly, after all you were carrying a concealed gun, you don’t need a concealed gun.
Not all cops love guns and take it upon themselves to know the law; I know a few who cannot even tell me the difference between probable cause and ARS.

One would hope that this kind of thing would be distributed to leo's and lea's (I assumed so), but apparently that's not the case. I do appreciate our AG pursuing the number of reciprocal agreements that he has, tho.

I printed it out and will post this in the squad room for all my departments officers to read.
Most here are progun; we are a small town in a rural county, so guns are a way of life around here.
