Bloods In Trinidad turning the streets red

The Bloods have arrived in the nation’s capital. Now what?

Just as guns and drugs flow back and forth across the District’s borders with Virginia and Maryland, perhaps it was inevitable that organized gangs from beyond the city limits would invade our streets. For months I have been fielding tips about the Bloods, the Los Angeles gang in storied conflict with the Crips.

Still, reports of Bloods in D.C. seemed bogus; then I got my hands on Commander George Kucik’s memo.

“The Intelligence Division has verified that there are bona fide members of the ‘Bloods’ gang living and operating in the District of Columbia,” wrote Kucik, commander of the police department’s Third District, in the heart of the city’s Northwest quadrant.

Kucik reported Bloods sighted in the 7th and O Streets area and in Adams Morgan. I have been wearing a blue “DC” baseball cap to tip my hat to the Nationals; little did I know Blood members wear the same cap, which to them means “Death to Crips,” according to Kucik.

If the Bloods were in Adams Morgan, were they also in Trinidad, D.C.’s new homicide capital? I investigated and came up with sources who described a possible motive for some of Trinidad’s recent bloodshed.

According to these sources, a young woman from outside Trinidad wanted to join the Bloods. For her initiation, she could be “sexed in,” which means she would submit herself to gang members. She agreed, but after days of sexual slavery, she escaped, returned to her neighborhood and described her treatment. Outraged, her local crew members sought revenge by shooting up Trinidad street corners where Bloods were known to hang.

Police would not confirm this account, but it could explain the raft of shootings of July 19. No one has been arrested. The young woman, according to my sources, is under federal protection.

In a Darwinian sense of survival of the fittest, retribution against the Bloods is in keeping with local tradition. Area crews prevailed over Jamaican gangs who tried to run the marijuana trade in the 1980s. Organized crime has never taken hold in our disorganized streets.

The Bloods offer a potent and dangerous threat. With the closing of Lorton Prison, D.C. criminals now go to federal pens where they are faced with joining a gang just to survive. My sources tell me these ex-cons return to D.C. and establish “sets,” or small gang units. To recruit members, they hold parties with free booze and drugs and sex.

Now there could be as many as 30 sets growing in the capital city. Which raises the question: can the cops eradicate them? The Metropolitan Police Department has a gang unit, but it is undermanned.

“We are not ready,” an ex-cop tells me. “These gangs are easy to infiltrate at this stage. The only way to kill them off is an immediate and focused response.”

Or we could sit back and watch the D.C. crews battle the Bloods, in gang wars that will make Trinidad’s streets continue to run red.

All members:

The Intelligence Division has verified that there are bona fide members of the “Bloods” gang living and operating in the District of Columbia. In the Third District there is information that there may be Bloods in the area of 7th and O Street, NW. Also, the Intelligence Division has stopped members of the Bloods in the Adams Morgan.

They often wear their colors (red) or sometimes orange. (Bandana’s or red Nationals Hats with the “DC” on the front which means Death to Crips are common.) There are both male and female members. In addition they often carry knives as one of their tactics is to stick someone.

Detective Cory Perkins with the Intelligence Division is heading the investigation. If anyone comes into contact with someone who they believe may be associated with the Bloods shall contact the Intelligence Division via the CIC. Furthermore, all contacts must be thoroughly documented. Clothing, tattoos, etc. should be noted.

In the past, the department has somewhat denied the existence of organized gangs but the information regarding the Bloods has been verified.

Sergeant: please read in roll call for the next 7 days. I will also put packets containing specific intelligence info in the roll call room.

Well, gosh. Are these Bloods and Crips new political parties? If not, I'll bet the Republicrats and Democans are signing them up for welfare as fast as they can.

I grew up around gangs as my brother and sister were involved with them. The Bloods and B&Gs were by far the worst. No sense of morals at all, only loyalty to the gang it's self. Often they would do horrible garbage just for the fun of it.
At least the Hispanics (crips and similar) and most multi-racial gangs had a sense of justice that could be dealt with. Even the Russian mafia, though brutal when they get their hands on you, at least have SOME principals.
The difference between a gang with at least some principals VS a gang who has none at all is black and white.

I would think the DC members know this given you got the information from their own paper.

So because of Heller, you are saying, the Bloods now carry guns?

Someone please explain to this individual what I said...but just in case Heller equals self protection in the home which DC residents were denied in a pheasible manner. So please protect yourself & your families as best you can now that we have the Heller decision. The Daily News is one of my papers have not read it in God knows how long or the New York Post, the New York Times need I go on.

MS13 has been there for years already. They make the "Bloods" look like a Maypole Dance squad. This ought to get pretty ugly pretty quick if they are trying to move into Adams Morgan.

The organized street gangs have never taken hold in D.C. Today and especially during the heyday of the crack cocaine wars, the street drug dealing was run by "crews". These are groups of childhood friends who live in the same neighborhood, but it is much less formal that the L.A. or Chicago style gangs. In the Maryland and Virginia suburbs, MS-13 is big because of the large Central American immigrant population.
