If someone wants my guns in a "mass disarmament", they can come get them. Of course, there would be catches.


First of all, I would be refusing to give them. Second, the people trying to take them would be getting shot at.

And they'd have to touch the fingers of a dead person to get the guns.

You think the .gov doesn't already have some sort of blueprint drawn up for such an action? They plan for everything. The military has plans for all kinds of contingincies. To paraphrase a Bruc Willis movie, Armageddon I believe: 'I'm sure you've got guys in a room somewhere just thinkin' sh*t up.'

List of things to do if some idiotic crap like this EVER goes into effect:

1. Take off badge.
2. Put on uniform--the old camo one that still hangs in my closet.
3. Lock and load EVERYTHING I have in the gun safe.
4. Paint a HUGE banner that says "MOLON LABE" on it. Hang that one right beneath an American flag.
5. Wait for the response.


To mister brain dead, the author of that editorial: Before you try ANY stupid crap like that, I think you'd rather wrestle a Bengal tiger while wearing pork-chop drawers.

Bring it, dork. Just bring it.
 
Wow. Just wow. Putting aside issues pertaining to the BoR and such which others have pointed out, the logistics involved in this madness would be mind blowing.

Not only would it require half the population to guard the other half of the population in prisons (as someone else mentioned), but the staff needed to guard 240 million + guns in every proposed hunting "armory" and museum 24/7 would also require about half the population.
 
this would work out well for them on my block :rolleyes: today as I put my MOLON LABE stickers on all my cars I had 6 neighbors come up and ask what it ment. After I told them EVERY one of them asked where they could buy a sticker for themselves. i know at least three of them have as many guns as i do. i could just see the gestapo err "police" doing a house to house search and haveing to duck behind every single tree as they came :)
 
For those of you who love HR 297 so much, didn't the Nazis and the Stalinists both use false accusations of mental illness to punish their opponents.

I believe the Germans sent "mental defectives" on the same train ride as the Jews. The USSR imprisoned ("treated") and doped thousands of political dissidents in mental hospitals. Many they just put on trains to the East.

95% of the posters on this list would qualify as "dissidents" if the liberals of the left got control of the Democratic Party. Many (all?) left-leaning psychiatrists believe that gun ownership is a sign of what? - "mental defect." And NICS will be there to make sure you can't resist. YOU, not Chu, YOU.

I think he was trying to outline what exactly would happen if anti-gun folks got their way. It read more like a satire piece, it's not required that the author put a "just kidding" at the end of the column.
 
He didn't mention where he would get these "Spezielle Polizei" er... I mean "Special Police".

He would need a lot of troops as the casualty rates would be very high. And if what I read about the average cop or soldier is true he won't have many recruits from those areas.

Money might be an issue as their might well be a tax revolt. Because why would folks pay to have this done to them? There might be a lot of people who would donate to such a cause, but I don't see the typical soccer mom or dad anti gunner joining the USSP. Much too much risk for them. They would make perfect snitches, though.

So where would troops come from? And how would they be paid?

Perhaps inmates given the promise of full pardons? Illegals given the promise of citizenship? Welfarians given the promise of cash? UN troops given the promise of land?

All of them would share in forfiture proceeds of course.

There is a 100% chance forfiture would be part of the package. So if someone wants your property or the cash value of it they need only "find" a gun on the property. You go to jail, you lose your property and possibly all your money. So good luck fighting the charges while in the jug and with no assets.

If informants are given a percentage then you will have millions of people just ready and eager to turn you in for anything.

So his plan would lead to a nation where you could not trust anyone, where you were not secure in property and person. Where there would be no reason to improve your possesions because that would just increase the chance someone might covet it an rat you out to the USSP. His America would be a miserable place.

On top of that you would have a massive increase in crime as people are now unable to effectively defend themselves and the USSP will be completely useless in controlling criminals, probably deliberately so. Criminals might even get out of charges by mentioning that the people they stole from had guns.

And on top of all that would be a very uncivil war. I believe his plan would be the end of The United States of America. All that fighting would cause a collapse at some point.

We might even see the advent of warlordism and foreign nations backing one side or another.

So kiss the USA away if this plan comes about.

I take it as satire, but these days a lot of "you've got to be kidding" things are being proposed in earnest seriousness.

Evidently no less than a third of Americans want handguns absolutely banned and a majority want semi-automatics banned.
 
The disarmament process would begin after the initial three-month amnesty. Special squads of police would be formed and trained to carry out the work. Then, on a random basis to permit no advance warning, city blocks and stretches of suburban and rural areas would be cordoned off and searches carried out in every business, dwelling, and empty building. All firearms would be seized. The owners of weapons found in the searches would be prosecuted: $1,000 and one year in prison for each firearm.

Clearly, since such sweeps could not take place all across the country at the same time. But fairly quickly there would begin to be gun-swept, gun-free areas where there should be no firearms. If there were, those carrying them would be subject to quick confiscation and prosecution. On the streets it would be a question of stop-and-search of anyone, even grandma with her walker, with the same penalties for "carrying."

As I was reading, I couldn't help thinking, "He's kidding, right? He's showing the impossibility of doing what he's suggesting, right?"

First, his strategy won't work unless there is total registration first. It's just too easy to hide guns no one knows about. Especially if you have three months to hide them.

Once an area is "swept" and made gun-free, what's to prevent people from transferring their guns to friends, family, and sympathizers in those areas?

Can you imagine the outrage from liberals, gun owners or not, at the tactics of cordoning off whole sections and searching everyone and every home and building?

Not to mention, that strategy would unleash a domestic insurgency that would make Iraq look like a tea party.

Still, I really think he's kidding. If not, he's nuts. Or, if not, then we have nothing to fear if that's the best plan they can come up with.

Snitches would suffer the same fate as their Stasi....err....um "Special Police" masters. Honestly I wish something like this would pass at times. Sadly it would take something like this to wake up the sheep in this country.
 
First of all I have personaly written the Toledo Blade. The thing that I really have a problem with is I only counted 3 people that sent a rebuttal to the paper. If we can pound a person like Jim Zumbo, a person that was pro gun,and made a mistake by saying a derogatory statement about guns. Then we should be able to put enough heat on the ToledoBlade to have this guy and any other persons with like views from putting rubish like this in print. I have a great affection for my guns and dont mind spending the time to respond to some trash mouth columnist.
