It appears to me that the anti crowd is really turning up the heat.

  • Shotgun Joe has sound bites in the news daily now on gun control. Increasingly mocking any gun owners except hunters that agree with him.
  • MO Highway Patrol turning over list of carry permit holders to the Feds and the Feds asking for it
  • Many of the antis and those who haul water for them, increasingly misusing terms, misleading the public (aka lying)
  • FLOTUS now making emotional appeals to those trapped in failed communities in Chicago(communities that the left destroyed)
  • Talking points being hammered over and over again (reasonable gun control, common sense gun control, responsible gun owners (just shotgun hunters))

Are these examples (and many others) evidence of the gun grabbers becoming more confident or more desperate?

They think they are winning...but...

The gun grabbers have the media behind them, Hollywood, Piers Morgan on CNN, all of CNN, MSNBC and the rest. 60 Minutes did a piece on Newtown. Colorado, New York State, California and Connecticut have passed strict gun control laws.

We have these forums, the internet, pro-gun organizations, some pro-gun politicians, many pro-gun sheriffs who have gone on record supporting 2A. Seeing that there is a huge ammunition shortage and firearm shortage tells me, and anyone else with a brain that people are waking up and starting to see the light.

The pols and the Hollywood community are still sticking to the old notion that gun rights somehow equate to duck hunting and killing Bambi. I can't tell you how many articles I have seen through the years that still say 'hunting' and 'sports shooting' are the reason for the second amendment.

So it comes down to them verses us. There are much more of us than 'them'. I still think that if we didn't have the conceal carry movement and conceal carry permits and pro self defense laws in nearly every state. I think we could have lost the battle years ago.

And this notion that we don't need high round mags. We do and we have a right to have them. Why would we need high round mags? It doesn't matter, we have a right to them. But for the sake of argument. Anyone hear of the LA riots ? Armed Korean store owners successfully protected their stores from looters. I doubt a 10 round squirrel rifle would have been effective against a mob hell bent on looting a store.

Imagine the next LA Riots, the next Katrina, the next Hurricane Andrew (1992 Florida). Or god forbid the Cyprus banking crises coming to the U.S. And don't say it can't happen here. What would you want to protect you and your family with? A 10 round squirrel pea shooter or an AR-15 type of personal defense rifle with 30 rounds?

"we" do have the forums and other new or alternative media.

Not to be a downer - but "WE" don't stand a chance until there is a true groundswell uprising - large enough, loud enough and persistent enough that cannot be denied or covered up.

Therein lies one of the major problems. Many of the pro 2A people are calm, ordered and confident people - not prone to activist protests or snap reactions.

Not to be a mad tinfoil hatter or a TEOTWAWKI, but I firmly believe and fear those that want to keep and bear their arms are going to have to rise up, go against the regime, and create a wall of walnut, blue steel, and black rifles between "us" - and "them" before this will go away.

I am concerned...that they know our economy will eventually collapsed (or be collapsed).

For the love of God, don't vote for more big government people (i.e. Democrats and some Republicans)--state, local, or federal--in 2014 or 2016! Unless you like them knowing and regulating your health habits (which includes your eating habits, personal/bedroom habits, smoking/drinking/drugs, psych history, etc.), how many and what guns you own, warrantless wire tapping and GPS tracking (including activating the mic in your cell phone remotely as long as the battery is in it), being added to "watch lists" (w/o knowing if/why you're on there, who put you there, or how to get off), etc. Meanwhile, DHS (which didn't exist before 9/11, remember) is buying and stockpiling billions of rounds of JHP ammo for "domestic" use.

Realize that if Newtown had happened during Obama's last term when the Democrats had a super majority, we'd have federal laws like the new NY laws, including AWB, 7 rd limits, purchase limits, registration, and potentially even confiscation. People need to actually vote ONLY for those who support the 2A if freedom and the Bill of Rights really hold any importance to you. Sure, there are other issues where people may favor D, R, Libertarian, etc., but all other issues are trumped by the Bill of Rights, IMO. If we don't have that, we have no freedom.

All of the OP's points have two sides and I would argue that the other side is more valid but listen and read the news, even that from so called conservative sources and unless it is an opinion based article or program it is biased toward the anti's.

Activism plan in three words: Primary. Them. ALL.

All 435 in the House, all however many are up in the Senate (ESPECIALLY Turncoat Toomey and the rest of McChurian's Minions), and EVERY State and local elected official who doesn't have a clear record of voting with us. And repeat EVERY election year until gun-grabbing becomes a a move straight out o the Politician Edition of "Career Ender's Bible". Our Milquetoast Moderate fair-weather friends need to get the Zumbo treatment...

I've been shooting for a year now and this has been a real eye opener. I just signed up for a Life NRA membership and am looking to join GOA and others. Just talked my brother into joining the NRA and a local club of his in Nor Cal. If we are to win, we can't pretend and kid ourselves that we'll do so through the distorted media prisim. Folks, what's been really effective for me is to take friends that do NOT own guns and invite them out to the range to shoot. Yes, you'll spend some of your ammo and it will cost you that much up front.

But I have great news! Of several friends that never owned guns or joined the NRA before speaking to me are now avid shooters! We win by grassroot efforts to show people proper gun control (that is good safety tips on the range, not through legislation) and that us gun owners aren't crazy, but that once you engage people, you win them over. We'll never win this battle taking on the media directly.

We need more NEW shooters on the range, more NEW NRA/GOA/JFPO members, and more NEW voters that will put these anti-gun zealots out of office. I know personally that I've converted at least a half-dozen non gun owners into gun owners. What part have you played recently in engaging your non-gun owning friends/co-workers/church members/ etc? Are you bringing new members into the fold? If so, my hat is off to you. If you haven't invited a non-gun owner out to the range in the last couple of months, why haven't you? Our rights are protected when the majority understands and enjoys exercising them, and does so frequently. Invite your network of non-gun owners out to the range ASAP. We can win converts. It can and MUST be done!

Agree that we need to win this one voter at a time, by building relationships and reaching out to people we know. It's like evangelizing.

Absolutely. If you aren't a gun apostle, you have no right to complain when your rights are slowly watered down and perhaps even stripped away altogether. The fight never ends. We should be focusing our efforts on contacting our legislators and joining pro-gun groups, but FAR too many gun owners DO NOT reach out to their non-gun owning friends. We must not be ashamed to make new converts. Just because we own guns doesn't mean we should be type-cast as unfriendly. Be your neighborhood's friendly gun apostle and win us some converts!

Yeah they're really ratcheting it up in Illinois too. According to the news reports there was a 'massive anti gun rally' in Springfield, IL this week.
