I ,as many of you I'm sure, can't stand the homie hold. Come on. One it is ridiculous, two you can possibly sanp your wrist if the gun has a sufficent enough blowback, and finally did I mention it was ridiculous. So yeah the homie hold needs to be drawn. quartered then the remains destroyed with napalm. Another thing that bothers me about firearms in today's society is how so many people misunderstand them. On one end of the spectrum you see these kids and people with kid mentality who are avid users of the homie hold and think of a firearm as a toy. On the other end you have the morons who see guns as something evil that must be destroyed and is inherintly wrong. Were it not for the advent of the gun the founding pioneers of this country of ours would have had an even tougher time of things.

"Holmes, watch me shoot this tight gat yo!"

*Breaks wrist*

"Sheit dawg, its only a .45!"

So what was the question?

Clips rather than mags annoys me...the clip goes into the mag... paper clip marks the pages in a book, or magazines...

Anywho, Teddy Roosevelt had the right idea when he said gun training should be a neccesary part of school work.

I'm all in favor of the use of the "homie hold" - by those trying to rob or assault me. This means that I can get in several good, accurate shots while the BG is still trying to hit me the first time. It definitely has its place! :D

I prefer the homie hold as well for all those who want to look cool while tossing shot all over the place.

I’ll tighten up, proper grip, front sight --- squeeeeeez……………

And pop you a new @$$ hole right in the center of your forehead and you too can look cool as I call the GBI to clean your brain matter off the wall.

Correct me if I am wrong, but are not some semi-auto handguns a bit finicky about how they are fired? That is, they have to be operated in the "normal" fashion, or they are might not cycle properly.

Yes the homie hold does have it's place I guess. I wish Teddy Roosevelt had a longer stay as our president. Gun Training in school would be great. It would teach respect of a firearm and not thinking of it as a toy or a .....(shudders) fashion accessory.

Plus one on Preacherman and FedWeasel

I have friends on the left coast that are working cops and in the movie business; they told me the "homie hold" was basically invented by the cops on the set as another way to differentiate the bad guys in the movies. Plus, they found out you couldn't hit the broad side of a barn, which didn't bother the cops in the least... :D

Hi All-

+2 on Preacherman and TheFederalistWeasel comments. :)

If anything, we should be promoting the Homie Hold in places like Compton, East Orange, South Central, Newark, Detroit, Washington, D.C., Cincinnati, New Orleans, and anyplace else where dense pockets of criminal populations can be found. It statistically increases your chances of surviving an armed encounter.

As an aside, the newest technique is holding the weapon upside-down and using the ring finger to pull the trigger while the grip lays against the web of the thumb. I am being serious and not telling a joke. Gangbangers really are as dumb as a box of rocks.

Used the "Homie" grip yesterday on the range @ 12 feet. Chose that distance because F.B.I. stats say most fights happen within 21 feet. Put another way, they happen within speaking distance.

Two rounds right hand using a Springfield Commander Model.45 a.c.p. with the ejection port facing up.

Point of aim: Solar Plexus

First round hit close to P.O.A. about 1.5 in. to the left. Second round hit about 11 o'clock in chest.

Two rounds left hand with ejection port facing down.

About the same results as right hand grip, except they would be a mirror image.

Repeated twice with each hand and got about the same results.

No failures of any kind.

This is not the expected result. :scrutiny:

flatdog.

You're still aiming man, you've got it wrong. And did you remember to push the bullet? If you jab your gun around while firing, you get a few more FPS!

Did you hold the gun over your head in the proper position? And did you make the requisite "jabbing" motion each time you pulled the trigger in order to make the bullets go faster?

Ah - a chance to educate! "Clips" don't have springs - they MAY or MAY NOT go into the "magazine", which does have a spring, for example, my M1 Garand uses 8 round "en bloc" clips that DO go into the magazine - the Lee Enfield I used toi own uses "stripper" clips which DON"T go into the magazine - the cartridges are pushed down into the magazine while the "clip" is held in guides on the top of the receiver. I have heard of some rifles that hold their cartridges in something similar to a stripper clip, but the whole thing goes into the magazine, and the empty clip falls out the bottom after the last shot. Sometimes the term "charger" is used to refer to a clip; sometimes, it refers to a device to push down the follower in a removable magazine. A "magazine" is just a place where a firearm stores ammunition: it can be fixed, or removable, it will have a spring and feed lips except in a few special cases, such as big game rifles that store extra rounds in the butt stock, (known as a "butt magazine", appropriately). A "clip" is a device to store ammunition AWAY from the gun, but prepared to rapidly insert into the gun, it can put ALL of its rounds in very rapidly, or at once: think "full moon CLIP" for .45 ACP revolvers. A "charger" is anything that assists in reloading a firearm, magazine, or clip; it can be "speed strips", a speed loader, a follower button depressor, stripper clip, or clip, and doesn't necessarily put all of its rounds in at once, or in quick succession.

"Clips" don't have springs

Not necessarily. Some have a flat spring that provides tension on the cartridges to hold them straight. Others may be a spring themselves. The M1 clip is a spring if I'm not mistaken.

And did you make the requisite "jabbing" motion each time you pulled the trigger in order to make the bullets go faster?

True dat, true dat. The bullets go faster if you do the stab and jab, and the flash of the bling bling will distract that low down gangsta wannabe .

Good point. So, (more accurately), "Magazines", whether fixed or removable, have feed lips, springs and followers (or some other mechanism) to position the cartridges for feeding into the chamber of the firearm. "Clips", while they may have springs to RETAIN the cartridges, or rely on the springiness of the clip itself for the same, DO NOT have springes or followers to feed the rounds into the chamber.

Having witnessed two gunfights/ shootings where the "Homie Hold" was implemented and no one was hit I am in agreement that it not only looks stupid, it is ineffective and assinine.
However, I am not going to suggest that folks quit using this technique since I don't advocate effective techniques for commiting murder and hope that they continue to use their firearms in an ineffective manner.

Hip-shooting a rifle is one of my personal pet peeves.

Unless a big cat is charging or you just don't have the room to properly deploy your weapon there is no sane reason to waste ammunition hipshooting an SKS and trying to hit the last beer can one just emptied and threw away, downrange,,,,,

And there is one of my pet peeves - idiots drinking and shooting. I know otherwise normal sane individuals who think nothing of getting loaded and unloading downrange. Idiots.
Gangbangers like to practice at the arcade - I've seen them "shooting" at the screen from one inch distance, homie hold and all....I say, "Keep it up, banger!"

I sometimes enjoy a brew or two while out shooting with my partners. Aside from that, people who shoot bottles and road signs really piss me off.

The homey hold the gangstas use is to good shooting like Howard Dean is to the Democrats. The gangstas and Demos should keep on just like they are.

Hip shooting is different. Especially if using it in dry, dusty areas where your misses can easily be detected. Your first few might be off, but you can use the spatter from those misses to walk the firearm to the target. Works on water too.
