Agree on the concept of absolute realism (or lack of), but felt it was a good way to combine a bunch of objectives into one test format, the overarching goal of which is to help folks explore their limitations, experience a bunch of different shooting positions, feel some pressure of time, manipulate their guns a lot, and have some fun with their friends and hunting rifles.Having 10 shots and a reload are not realistic for hunting. But would help to duplicate the stress (buck fever) of shooting at a live animal after being walking uphill.
One other question. When do I start the timer, at the 1st shot, or prior to mounting the rifle?
Re timing constraint: the clock starts with the report of the first round and ends with the report of the last. That way you have all the time you need to focus up on that first round, and I'm not particularly fussy about which position you use to shoot it, i.e. you could change the order up a bunch so long as you hit all 5 positions.
