It's been a while since I've been a member of the NRA, but I still get their "junk" mail on a regular basis. With my renewal of interest in firearms and shooting (I basically went from 1994-2004 oblivious to what was going on), I've felt the need to keep myself a little more updated on what's happening politically. Recently, my company installed new internet filters ( http://thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=165802 ), and websites that I've been going to for years, are now blocked. Today, I went to the NRA's website to do some more checking.....It was the last straw....

I can go to the NRA's homepage, but I couldn't go to the page to rejoin. I was getting a little ticked at this, so I decided to go to the "Contact" page and call the NRA.....Grrrrrrr......Dernit to a really hot place! :fire: I can't get to that page, neither. Both pages come up as being blocked because they fall under the category "Politics/Opinion;Weapons". :cuss: So.....I did a search for their toll free number and called the NRA and rejoined. :D

Looks like I may have to write a letter to someone at work. :scrutiny:

Ahh, no offense, but when you're at work, shouldn't you be working?
Yeah, probably, but I'd go insane if I didn't do something instead of sitting in front a computer all day with internet access while waiting on others to get their act together (I sure don't want to read a book or magazine, as that is much more "high profile"). Today I sat here ready for testing to start for six hours before the test started. I couldn't even take off for a lunch break because I had no idea how soon they'd start up. To top that off, I have no idea when I'll get out of here. It's gonna be a long evening.....I work in an R&D facility where I take test data that is only governed by others. I also have absolutely no idea when I get off of work Mon-Fri, as I must give testing support whenever they need it.

I'm curious.....how accessible is Moveon.org??
I can not only go there, but I can make donations, too.

Can you go to the Brady bunch site?
Affirmative on that one, too.....I can also make a donation there. :cuss:

Sucks, doesn't it.

I'm a Realtor, so I can surf as much as I want. But my office has blocked access to every possible gun-related website known to man. I'm not an employee, so I work on my own time. I can carry a gun in the office, but I can't get on a website.

I complained to my boss who is in charge of all the Internet filters at work about the very same thing. The problem is not with your company but with the company that you have a subscription with for updated lists of off-limits places. THEY are the ones we should be working on because it is absolutely not right that you can get to the VPC but not the NRA.

In your browser, try going to 64.29.201.96. Depending on how they've done their filters - it might work.

What a good reason for joining the NRA. Your employer probably blocks a lot of porn sites too. Are you going to join all of those?

Hmmmm....does the porn industry have an equivalent lobbiest group? LOL......Actually, I've just been getting a little tired of people telling me what firerams I should be able to own and where I should be able to have them. These feelings have been getting stronger since I got my concealment permit. I was never told of my employeer's firearms policy until after I got my CWP (concealed weapons permit) and was talking to a co-worker, CWP-holder. I was not aware of this policy because I work as a contractor and have never seen my host copany's handbook. Then you compound that I can't go to Brownells nor Midway because they are "merchandising/shopping" but eBay, Amazon, Toys 'R Us, and Walmart are not, but I still have access to them ( ), it was just enough to throw me over the edge when I went to look into the NRA's membership benefits and programs, again. It just happened to be "the last straw", so.....yeah, I guess it is a good reason to join the NRA. :D
