V4, brother, you are making this WAY more difficult than it has to be.
As a citizen of NC, you can go to the DMV and get an ID card. It is not a driver's license. It is an ID card. When we lived in Clayton, my epileptic wife got one when she was no longer allowed to have a driver's license. It was just $10, and there was no test.
You just gotta prove you live at your address. no big deal.

Then how am I supposed to get to work & the gun store
? I need the license but for right now, I'll just have to get a Learner's Permit that says I'm over 18.

It's a shame. I may have to move one day. The thing is, everything I know is here. The best hotdog place, the people, the scenery.
