Welcome George. Whats the story behind the grips?

I feel ya there Dawg, But I just ain't got the heart to chop off any a mine ... I've tried to justify it but i just go buy a shorter barreled gun instead :O)

This one would go well with a collection like that, but you wouldn't want it it's a Remington around 1888 .41R Derringer :O)

Nice Derringer Smokin Gun!

Here is a pic of a ROA snubbie made by a pard named "Smithy" over on the SASSWire.

I'd like to do one like this someday!

Great work Smithy!!

No story on the grips Clem. Those grips are about one of three different styles of Pachymeyer grips that I have for my Blackhawks. I also have a set of those faux ivory (polymer?) grips that I like the looks of but they are too slippery for greasy shooting.

For all these ROA fans:

My 7 1/2" adjustable sights ROA won second place in a "any old muzzleloading pistol challenge" postal match on The Muzzleloading Forum today.

Targets were a single piece of 8 1/2 x 11 white paper, any marking allowed. Course of fire was one target at 10 yards, offhand single hand hold, five shots only, and one target at 25 yards, offhand single or two hand hold, five shots only. Scoring was group size plus distance of group from center of target for the 10 yard target, then distance from center of each shot to the target center for the 25 yard target, all scores then added together.

Winning score was 3.823", pistol unknown; my score was 8.536"; third place was 10.077", again pistol unknown. High score was 16.658".

The 10 yard target was the best single pistol target I've ever shot at any time.

Go ROA!

Congrats mykeal! Great shooting!

It's kind of a bummer that it isn't a requirement to disclose the details of the firearm to participate. Shooting is shooting I suppose but why not disclose the full details of the firearm just for grins?

Just registered. Will be forwarding a photo of my very plain 5 1/2", blued, factory grips and plain sights.Purchased the gun +/- 8 years ago with a Taylor & Co. cylinder.Gun was with my son for years and I just got it back this week.Today I got supplies - balls, caps, wonder wads and will go to the range tomorrow.I had a extra Uncle Mikes cloth holster, size2,that I opened the end stiching.Barrell sticks out about 1".Will get a better holster in the future but I've read they are hard to find.I'm sure you members will have plenty of sourses.I belong to many forums-I like the looks of this one.I plan on using round balls but may keep the ROA conversion cylinder loaded as a spare home defense house gun.Any recommendations on what 45LC ammo to use in the conversion cylinder? My regular house gun is a Sig P220 45ACP- I like 45ACP just have never used 45LC.
My best

Hey Malone:
Conversion cylinders specify "cowboy" loads, so use low to medium pressure/velocity loads.
If yer loading your own, keep 'em on the lighter side.

Hey Eights:
Cylinder loaders are great for loading ROAs & Remmies cuz the cylinder pops right out.
I wipe out the cylinder face & frame while I'm at it.
I use one for my 3" (Colt) snubbies too.
Gotta take the gun apart, but I can pop out the wedge, remove the barrel, load her up & have the gun back together lickity split.
The only ones I load on a revolver stand are my 5.5 & 8" Colts.

One of my Ruger Old Army pistols

This is the best black powder pistol of all time- love my Feinwerkbau- and my Rogers and Spencers- but enjoy conversion cylinders in the Rugershttp://www.thehighroad.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=130171&stc=1&d=1288970862
