Very nice..!

Looks like Bob does a fine job with these.

So far i have just 'Mexican Carried' my Walker, but, one of these days, I am sure, a Holster will be a welcome accessory.

Here's a couple of photos of a Walker holster Big Bad Gun made for me way over 2 years ago. Done good work on it to. I don't ever use it and it's not even broken in. (I use the one Cabela's sell's with the safety strap that snaps)..He does good work though. I still want him to make me a couple for my Cattleman's Carbine I carry around a lot...I'll just throw a few flasks up to. I mean, hell, this is the Walker club....

Thanks guys been very ill this year thats why aint nobody seen to much of me lately but I am doing loads better now. G o the C sent you a PM about a week and a half ago or so . Dont know if you got it or not. Me being ill had forced the sale of some of my guns which everybody got. and again would like to thank everyone for buying the pieces I had up for sale. I am doing much better now. And if anybody needs anything please let me know.

No, I don't remember seeing any mail from you Big Bad Gun. You know I would have moved Heaven and Earth to answer it. I seen some of your guns up for sale but never thought anything about it to tell you the truth. I reckon everybody on here is alway's trading and selling and swapping and buying around except for me. What kind of illness did you have Buddy? You live in Florida I know. Did you catch AIDS? ( just kidding!) Well, glad you are better, whatever you had....GOTC....

Big Bad Gun, do you ever hunt those 'gators down there? (I mean before you went under the weather)..Man I used to get me one pretty regular in Louisiana. The deal was I'd have to gut and skin the whole thing. (being careful with the hide). Then I'd carve me some steaks off of the tail and some more chunks for making stuff like Gumbo, and an orphanage would get the rest of the meat. (98 % of the gator for them)..I would kill it with my Walker although a warm loaded '58 will knock him flopping to..Actually you can hit him or her between the eyes with a good claw hammer or baby sledge and that will do the trick to...I know you are right next to some of the finest eating in the world in that swamp and on out into the Gulf....Hope you get completely well soon Big Bad Gun....

yes GotC have done some gator hunting in the past. Aint been for about a year however.
Illness I had a double bout of pnuemonia in about 4 months thats what started it. After that was cleared up had a upper respitory infection and then to top it all off my gaul bladder bust inside of me. spent the first 6 months of this year in the hospital and then most of july home trying to mend. I have a clear bill of health for the time being. I still owe Florida boy a scabbard and that should be done this weekend. So I am back and open for business. GotC I know you would have done what you can to answer but its all good..

Hi!

I'm new here, and I wanted to give a warm Texas "Howdy"! to all you guys in this here forum.
Names Jim, and I have an Uberti Walker I bought from a gent, and been meaning to get a Kirst Konverter for it. I'd put a pic up, but I need to get a camera, and just havent gotten around to it yet. But I'll be doing that pretty quick.
BBG, glad to see your doing better buddy, I was hoping that things were on the mend for you, and I'm glad your better bud.
BBG made a rig for me too, very much like Gus's rig from Lonesome Dove.
He even went a step further and stamped "Texas Ranger" in antique gold on the accessory pouch and holster. I love it.
As soon as I can, I'll be posting a pic of the Walker and holster so you can see what an excellent job he did for me.
Nice meeting all of you.
BBG, you take care now, hear?

BigBadGun does good work. He's very prompt and courteous with everything to. I'm about ready to order a couple from him for the carbine I carry. Took me awhile to get caught back up. I traded in my Dodge Ram pickup for a Ford pickup. (4wheel drive)..Wyoming is proud of their Ford trucks. Getting the plates swapped over, a copy of the title and registration and that damn sales tax cost me a total of $11082.12 even with my veteran's discount, and I still have to pay on the truck every month for the next nearly 5 damn years. Well, that's alright I guess. It's a good truck I reckon. I do want a couple of good carbine scabbards from BBG though. I think so much of the Walker holster he made for me I won't even use it. Just keep it put away safe. I really like that CSA he put on there without even asking me about it. (I'm from Alabama and proud of my Heritage). Anyway, Big Bad Gun is the man around here when it come's to leather....

Jim Scrat and GotC thanks guys for the kind words. This year has been hard on me and my family but it seems things are going to be ok.I have never been sick for so long really started to get depressed. and then the need to sell some of my guns just about made me sick again. But since I am back to work now. Hopefully I can try to replace the ones that had to go. GotC when ever you are ready my friend you still have my number give me a call.

Okay, so I finally enter a picture of a Walker in TFL monthly photo contest and you fellas are hanging me out to dry. :banghead: Don't say I didn't try to represent us! :neener:

Photo Contest Poll for these photo entries.

Just kiddin'. Vote for whichever photo you like. I kind of like the one submitted by Officer's Match.

Fast WALKER question -

How heavy would be getting too Heavy for Bullets one could fire from a WALKER?

I was shooting some 230 Grain Wadcutters, and they were really a nice change of pace for Target and Plinking.

I have some 260-odd Grain RNL also, but, am wondering it there is a point where one ought to pause and not pass, far as Bullet weight with full-as-possible Charges of Powder behind 'em?

I don't think there's any limit - you naturally must reduce powder as you increase bullet mass because there is less room. I'd imagine the real limit is the length of the round - the barrel becomes too short to stabilize the round if it's too long.

Hi mykeal,

Makes sense...

250-ish would be a good Bullet and still alllow plenty of Powder behind it.

I got three Molds finally, different weights from like 180 something to 260 something, which throw .454-455, and when sized to .454 will fit into my WALKER's Cylinder and be tight when rammed home.

Wow, what a let down. Can't get a single vote from the Walker Club when I enter a pic of a Walker in a photo contest overrun with smokeless power firearms. :cuss: Those blasphemers always win. :fire:

Just kiddin'....:D Vote for whatever soots you (pun intended). Hehehehehe.

I was not able to understand the voting format, nor to see the candidates, when I had followed the links.

You look at the photos at this link.

You note whos photo you like then vote for them at this link.

Of course you need to be a registered voter of TFL to vote. I guess I assumed that everyone here also was a member of the black powder forum over at TFL. Maybe not. Anyhow, the point of my post was just to show the Walker Club that I was trying to compete with the smokeless blasphemers AND to show my surprise that no one in the club wanted to vote for a Walker. It doesn't matter. The contest is just for fun. You don't actually win anything.

I was a member at one time, briefly, and met with such nastyness and swarming attacks in collusion among the nasty, I left and never went back.

This was because I had mentioned having participated in quite a few shooting events in the 1980s, using my 1914 Colt Commercial Model 1911.

For some reason, this really freaked out a bunch of people there, and they were just really insulting and nasty and calling me names and so on, saying the Pistol will blow up, how dare I ruin it, I will crack-the-frame, and other garbage.

Pistol looks the same today, has the same snug tolerances as it did when I got it many years ago.

It just seemed like a crappy forum...so, oh well.

WALKER wise though...

I did an experiment with mine, having shot fifty or so rounds with BP last November...left it sitting, un-cleaned since, and, no rust, no anything has appeared.

I was curious whether the fine coating produced of the Vaporized Wax & Oil, condensing then onto the Revolver, from using my home made Lube Wafers would in effect offer a preserving amenity to the whole, and, it appears to do so indeed.

In a damper clime, it may not, dunno...but here, it does appear to do so very nicely.
