Now proud to say the Mighty MO!
A buddy of mine mentioned he bought a Mosian-Nagant last month. I asked him how it shot and he said he hadn't shot it yet.

Hadn't shot it yet!?

When I was a kid and would buy a nintendo game or something I would walk straight into the house after getting home and play it... no doing something else first... straight to it.

With one exception (a shorter barreled version of a gun I already had) I've fired every gun I've purchased within a few hours of picking it up (doesn't hurt that the range is between my house and the outfitters). Naturally weather and circumstances won't always permit this, but I see no change in my behavior in the regard in the near future.

Anybody else just have to fire a new gun at the earliest opertunity?

I get antsy if I have too wait too long to shoot. Usually buy and install accessories if it takes too long so it's a good idea for me to get to the range quick ;)

An old friend of mine has many of his guns he has never fired last I knew. Also last I knew he still hadn't set up his reloading bench (had all the stuff for over a year last time I talked to him).

At least 2 of his pistols and 2 of his rifles he never shot. I know he's re-sold guns before he's had the chance to shoot them too.

Weird guy. Wierd guy. . .

I have a 30-30, an 03A3 , a 91/30 and a SxS 12 ga. That I have never shot and I've owned them for 2 to 3 years. I am in the opposite position as Wheelman the rifle range is just too far from my house. My anti mother is starting to let us shoot on her property now so maybe I'll get the chance on Thanksgiving.

I think those kind of people are called Ko-lecters or some such. I think they might be from the planet Ko-lon or someplace like that.

There's even some of them that will buy a thing that just looks like a gun but won't actually shoot! I never could understand that.

I even hear that there's even some of them that buy purty pictures painted by old dead guys and lock them up in safes so no one can see them.

What will they think of next?

I've got a couple, a M91, a MAS, a M1889, several guns bought as U-fixems that that I haven't got around to fixem yet, that I have never fired. And you guys should visit Ko-lon some time where all the men are handsome and intellegent, and the women are beautiful and obedient.

"What's that dear? ...Can it wait until I get off line?... No, I'm not on that site again, and I told you I was researching Swedish gymnists for work...Surely the trash will be there when I'm finished...No, I don't think it would take a John Deere to pull it out of there and besides, the chain would probably slip off of my ears... Honey, put down the frying pan..."

Many rifles have only sat for years in the safe.

Bought 5 M1a's last year, shot two, the rest are NIB and will stay that way.

The Colt 1873 3rd gen 45LC with factory real ivory grips sits NIB for 14 yrs.

The Walther P-5c sits NIB for the last 15-17 years.

Just sold the AMT45 backup that was NIB from 12 yrs ago.

I have many that are NIB or unshot since purchasing them. Never intended to shoot them when I bought them. They are investments which will be either gioven to my nephew or will be sold upon my demise.

Like the idea I'm leaving some nice stuff for the nephew to drool over.

I've got many knives NIB as well.

Where do you shoot in town BlackSnowman? Not many outdoor ranges around KCK.

I can answer for him, cause we're friends IRL and shoot together all the time.

Outdoor ranges we go to the new (and recently re-new) Parma Woods in Parkville. We used to drive all the way up to Pigeon Hill in St Joseph.

Indoor we go to the Bullet Hole cause it's close.

Kol-lector.........???????? naaaaaaaaa !!

i just like NIBS,

my unfired nibs are:

AR-15 A2 Colt Carbine

AR-15 A2 Gov't. Model

AR-15 A2 Gov't. Carbine

AR-15 A3 Tactical

oooooooh...!! i do have 8 other Colt AR-15s that i shoot regularly, plus an Eagle & a Bushy Carbine

Haven't shot my Martini-Henry yet, nor my M1916 Spanish Mauser, nor my Mauser HSc, nor my 3" 625-7, nor my old 5-screw Military & Police, nor my .300 Whisper Turk... All for various reasons.

The HSc is destined to wind up as trading fodder, so why shoot it? I've shot one before, I know what they shoot like.

The Martini needs an industrial-grade cleaning and a safety inspection. I dropped it off at work and the gunsmith'll get to it when there's a break from the full-price customers.

The Turk needs to have the scope bore-sighted, and then needs to be sighted in at a real rifle range, and I haven't been out to a real rifle range since late spring. (Being able to shoot in the backyard has kinda spoiled me...)

I've never bought a gun and then taken it straight out to shoot it. I always like taking it home and fondling it for awhile. I like sitting down with it and figuring out how to take it apart, clean it, admire it. Sometimes it's a week or two before I get a chance to actually take it out and shoot it for the first time...... but yeah, I'm itching to the whole time! :)

Yes. As a matter of fact, the guy I've puchased most of my guns from has a range about 7 steps away from the register.

If its collectable, I probably wont want it.

Hey...hey...hey......I have several guns that I've never fired and they may never get fired...the oldest being a Savage model 99 made in 1910 chambered for .303 Savage that's in great shape.....I just don't want to shoot it. Soooooooooo.......if that makes me a Kol-lector.....then so be it.

I have a confession to make.

I own a gun I haven't shot. It's a S&W model 36 DA only. I've had it close to 15 years. I bought it new.

Bought a Winchester 1911SL on Friday... they're infamous for their unreliability, so not yet... probably never.:( Ah well. Looks cool, at least.

I have a friend that I got interested in handguns about 12 years ago. Having the resources to buy whatever guns he wanted, he proceeded to do so at an alarming rate,:uhoh: . To make a long story short, after a couple of years he lost interest and now owns approximately 60 of the nicest modern day handguns out there and has only fired maybe 20 of them, and none of these have more than 150-200 rounds through them. Go figure!

I actually have a gun I haven't shot. It is a commemerative though.

I suppose that is reason enough.

It's also the last gun that I'll buy that I'll never shoot.

It ain't the same as a nintendo game. You need stuff before you can play with big kid's toys. Ammo, time, space etc. I know lots of guys who have lots of firearms and never shoot at all. Collectors they're called. And I have some I don' t like to shoot. Sell 'em? Don't be daft.

Without going into the obvious "I have"; "won't shoot"; etc. don't forget about the "gifts" people have stashed for a minor relative for when they come of age.........Yes; people DO have ageing NIB firearms.:neener:

Bought a Mosin-Nagant M44 (Romanian) and 200 rounds of ammo 2 years ago. Never have shot it. A few weeks later a nephew gave me a Schmidt-Reuben 7.5x55 Swiss and no ammo. Haven't shot it neither.
It's not that I'm a collector or anything. It's just that I haven't found the time and besides, the thought of cleaning the MN after shooting corrosive ammo isn't that appealing to me. Also, ammo for the SR is hard to find and expensive.
