Would you carry this?

I guess you enter the combination before you can fire the gun. This is their sales pitch:

New Gun set up for Home Defence. Great Idea with Lazer..And Combination lock on grip. If you don't know the combination [like 3-2-1 or 3-2-2 ,etc] it will not fire. Safe around strangers or youngsters. Comes with both grips & screws for frame, etc. Lazer & Grip Lock fit any J frame S&W with rd grip & come with complete Instructions. Lazer easy to sight in. Box is correct with all papers. Gun test fired after set up...LAZER & GRIPS

"Give me a second...no wait, I've got it....:uhoh: no...:cuss:"

What's a lazer?

This weekend's gun show here in the Phoenix area saw a ND which drives home to me how important it is that all guns be treated as if they're loaded. Locking devices, especially ones which advertise "safe for children", do not encourage this behavior.

Like that short movie a few years ago, about these weird living computer guys hunting down smokers? They both had to enter passwords into thier Berretas, and the "bad guy" was denied, of course.

That is the most stupid thing i have ever seen. Marketed for the latte' sipping yuppies who own a gun for self defence and do not know the first thing about one. My safety is no kids and my finger.

That is COOL!

All you have to do is call a 'time-out' in order to allow yourself time to enter your combination. It is pure genius as long as the BG doesn't cheat. :p

Seriously guys is this thing that bad........takers......I didnt think so.

It looks like Saf-T-Hammer has developed a new combination lock for the S&W revolver. Excellent for those home invasions when you have lost your IL key. Keep looking for the full scale integration that S&Ws lawyers are fully supporting.

That is just a tragedy waiting to happen. A three digit lock is only 1000 combinations. Any kid with access to that thing is going to figure out the combination in an hour. And, since their parents were silly enough to buy something like that for "safety", it's a pretty safe bet that they wouldn't have the sense to actually teach the kid anything about actual gun safety.

+1

The sad thing is, in NYC you are actually required to have something like this on your weapon when it's stored... the applications actually state that it could be 10 days in jail or $250 fine if you don't store the weapon with a key or combo trigger lock and totally seperated from ammo "When the weapon is not under your immediate control" ... and they repeat "Children" every other sentence. Bah, I don't have kids. I'd need my gun to actually do what I'd have bought it for.

The first person to get pistol whipped by that gun has a great lawsuit. 'But the company said it was safe around strangers!'

Yep, those switches are either up or down... so you have 8 combinations... which means its much better for HD than you guys thought :p

Most of mine (rifle/shotguns anyway) have the same thing, only its a single switch instead of three. Remiington/Savage/Mossberg call it a "safety switch" or "safety."
