I had a Bersa 380, got it for a really nice price, and sold it to a friend later for a few bucks less. I always intended to get a replacement (sold it as more of a favor). I never got around to it.

I've been thinking of getting one again now that I have a CCW. I see there is now a double stack 15 round variant, the Thunder Plus. Specs list the grip as 1.35 wide vs 1.30 on the single stack. I liked the slim grip of the single stack bersa, but those side panels aren't very thin. It seems to me that with a double stack and slimmer grip panels you could get something that is still reasonably thin.

Anyone have any experience actually hefting these? I'd think that 0.05 thicker wouldn't be noticeable but...

you will notice the difference at first But it will go away. Problem at present almost impossible to fine pistol and a real shortage of spare mags Also almost no aftermarket grips . .

I just carry my normal Thunder and not worry about having 15 rounds .

You can go to the 9mm Compact 13 +1 and its just a little larger in size over all Than the Plus.

http://bersachat.com over 6000 now and still growing

I have a medium sized hand and IMHO the Plus grip is better. By better I mean it feels more natural, more secure, hand filling but not overly large.

I carry one every day. I carried the thunder fo a long time(like5 yrs) then saw the plus and liked the extra ammo. Will not carry anything else. I have 1911's, glock's 23 and 27's, so my carry gun is still the plus.

I just picked up a Thunder CC. I am amazed at how slim it feels. The specs are listed at 1" in width.

I find it interesting that the CC holds 8 rounds instead of the 7 the standard Thunder holds even though the CC is 4.5" in height and the standard Thunder is 4.9" in height.

Don't understand how they squeezed an extra round into a shorter slimmer Thunder CC. I wish the CC had the option of coming with the standard Thunder sights

The Bersa Thunder 380cc has an 8 round mag with a flat base.
The Bersa Thunder 380 has a 7 round mag with a pinkie extension.

The difference is in the bases. If you swap the bases the 8 becomes a 7 and vice versa. Either will work (as well as the less commonly seen 9 round extended mag) in either pistol for range use. For carry usage the recommendation is to go with the version of the mag the pistol was originally supplied with.

Back to the Bersa Thunder 380 Plus. Its only magazine is the 15 rounder. The 7,8, and 9 are single stack and will not work in the Plus model.

I think the 1911 did something similar. There aren't any external dimension differences between the old standard 7 round mag and the now common 8 round mags are there? The only differences are internally in the spring and base, correct?

Best of luck.

Thanks Dan let me just make sure I understand. The 7rd thunder mags with the pinky ext will work/fit in my CC? That is good to know. The CC only comes with one mag and I can not find any for sale.

I am looking for a backup or spare so I might do that (but obviously carry the original)

My wife has the thunder plus. I carry it form time to time when I do not want to carry my full size hand guns. It is a good gun, little thicker then the regular thunder but my wife and I both like the way it fits our hands better then the thinner thunders.
