OK, I finally gave in... Most stores I've been too don't have .22 LRs, .22 magnums are a pipe dream.

I found one store that had acquired some .22 magnums off of another customer and I was lucky enough to get a couple of hundred rounds. I probably have driven at least a 150 miles to different stores in search of the illusive long rifle only to find a couple that had them and they had a 50 round limit.

I just bought a 500 round brick off of Gun Broker, cost plus shipping was $85.00. Although, the price bites - at $3.35 per gallon of gas, it's still probably cheaper than driving around and only finding a few rounds here and there.

I will remember these days well when I vote in 2014.
 
Yep, I picked up 100 rounds of 22 mag at a LGS on a whim - wasn't really there to buy ammo, but rather to just look around. After the fact I realized I should have bought more.

I dont care how you vote. However. I dont recall anyone bringing up proposed bans for ammunition... The "shortage" is 100% firearm owners fault, and we are the ones perpetuating it.

If this were "100%" true, the shortage would have always existed, as there have always been gun owners.

There is a reason why gun owners (and aspiring gun owners) took to mass-purchasing and hoarding, and that reason does indeed lie in the political stances of certain elected, or potentially-elected, officials. Whether or not that reaction by gun owners is prudent is another matter, but it didn't just become "popular" or a "fad" to own .22LR ammo.
 
MadWheeler- your absolutely right. The anti-gun liberal left set in motion this whole panic situation. Gun control by any means is their ultimate goal. Bottom line, if the dims get both the house and senate, what we are seeing now is mild to compared what will come.

Gun owners who care about their hobby and the 2nd Amendment had best remember what is at stake.
 
I remember certain jurisdictions, Chicago comes to mind, that tried to pass a 5 cent per round ammo tax, including .22s.
 
I dont want to point fingers, but the reason people are still listing 22lr for $85/brick, is because people are still buying it for $85/brick.

And the ammo is out there, and it hasnt been marked up at all by the manufacturers...my college pistol team just bought 3k rounds of Winchester M22 for $120. And each member is getting 1000/9mm WWB for $250, both through our league, who gets it direct from winchester

LOL... I gave in this time because I purchased two .22 LR pistols (one for my wife and one for myself) a couple of weeks ago and then realized I could not even find ammo locally to shoot them. I bought this brick because the gas I was burning trying to find ammo was eating up any savings I might have lucked into. Most stores I have been too are saying they are getting zero shipments. A couple that has it, have bought them off of customers and like I posted, are limiting it to 50 round sales, at 2-3 times what it should be selling for.

I will not be a .22 LR collector at these prices.
