Tisas Tank Commander .45 ACP

You can get an add-on accessory for that from Brownelll's, which can be handy.

But, yes, a nice set of aggressive front & back checkering would be nice straight from the factory.

"Royal" might be hard to do in the modern era; but a deep "bone blue" would be a significant upgrade, and probably worth the upcharge.
I bet they can train some Turks to polish to old Colt Royal blue standard. They don’t have the same environmental restrictions or and restrictions really.

If the present finish keeps the price down, it works for me. Colt shiny blue looks nice, if you don't shoot the gun, but is still susceptible to holster wear and use
wear. And the shiny finish never made me a better shooter.

I picked one up a while back along with an "Army" model. Both were supposed to be 9mm, but the Tank Commander came in in 45. I ended up taking both.

I have one of their "Service" models in 9mm, and was looking for basic, GI guns, and thats pretty much what I got. Both seem to work OK with good mags, and are pretty reliable, but they are not 100% and would need that little extra you would do with any of the Series 70's type guns to get them comfortably reliable with a mix of ammo.

I actually would have preferred the GI type sights on the Tank Commander, but the sights it came with are fine. A little glo orange nail polish on the front sight makes it quick and easy to pick up, either way.

I swapped out the walnut grips for a set of GI plastic, for the looks and they are a bit more aggressive in texture.

Oh, and there is a simple, "poor boy" version of front strap checkering/stippling. Its called skateboard tape. Ive been using that method for a number of decades now, and on pretty much every autoloader I have. :)

I'm mulling the idea of a BBQ gun with a fancy leather holster. WHY? Uuummm why not?
I had been thinking of finding a rust bucket somewhere and cleaning it up but nooowwww.......
$299 on sale is about as cheap as a rust bucket now days.

I just have to keep telling myself I don't go to those sorts of BBQs anyway. Just keep telling myself.....
Nice bbq gun!
If I bought a gun to a Seattle BBQ, they would cancel me from every PTA, Soccer dad event, probably spray paint my house and put a homeless encampment on it.

But If I didn’t show up with a BBQ gun in North Carolina… they would make me drink bud lights

Nope!
I actually do like beyond sausage from Sam's club. Not near as good as my home made with wild hog but I can eat it when I don't have my home made

BBQ gun with a fancy leather holster
Well, the real key is not the pistol, per se, the holster can be way more "bbq" for being more visible.

Went to lots of BBQ parties, never saw these so called BBQ guns.
More of a Texas Thing, from out on big (as in over 1500acre) family plots, where all the attendees are coming from some distance, as you neighbors might be 15-30 miles apart. And, all hands are on private property, which may or may not be fully cleared of annoyances like coyotes, snakes, or the like. The sorts of things that might be drawn to a large amount of food.

And, the 'tradition' such as it is, is an outgrowth of "Court Guns," where various LEO are sporting "trusty made" hand tooled leather rigs, which often were then filled with heirloom fire arms rather than EDC.

It's just what you did when grampa or Unc' Gus left you a fancy engraved 1911 or the like. You want to show it off every now and again.

It's no where near as common as it was 30-40 years ago, but, the world is different too.

Lived in Kansas City for 11-12 years, in the heart of BBQ land. Went to lots of BBQ parties, never saw these so called BBQ guns.

Am not buying some ugly arse gun, for some fictional party.
That because BBQ is “Different” in Kansas City. In North Carolina, we split the hog, hickory smoke it in a ditch with chicken wire! them pour Vinegar & ketchup sauce all over it!

JK! stop at a Place called Joes in KS and it was good.

We did wear guns when we grilled out at the deer lease, that was because critter like Coyotes would try to eat our meat!

I've lived in Texas for most of my life. Yeah, at a family gathering out in the country, it's often okay to wear a pistol if you want. At least that was the case with my in-laws, who had a large family property and lots of extended family members. Tons of food. Maybe a chance to safely show off your marksmanship. Maybe some corn liquor afterwards to help settle the food down. Good times. :)

(Hint: If you don't have something fancy, go old-school.)

KC Joe's started out of a gas station, then called Oklahoma Joe's. IMO it's highly over rated.
When we roast hogs, we bury them in a field for about 12hrs and the ketchup sauce is left for hamburgers.

If Joe’s is overrated, I would love to taste your standard for good BBQ! I thought it was perfect!

Slow-cooked Pecan smoked brisket, pulled and on a big bun with plenty sauce is popular out here in AZ.

There are a couple places in Phx where they know the secrets of doing it right with mac & cheese, beans, and slaw.

Javalina done that way is even better...
