I have a 4 year old grand niece. I have already gotten her one of those Cricket .22 rifles, and probably this summer when she turns 5, I will take her shooting for the first time. Is there a small pair of ear muff style of hearing protectors or should I use those foam rubber in the ear type devices? Thanks.

Peltor makes some ear muffs for toddlers. We bought a pair for our 5 yr old and our 3 yr old for christmas. They seem to fit pretty good. They have them in pink and blue.

I applaud your concern for the little ones' hearing and making sure they have quality, well-fitting ear protection.

I'm 38 and have tintinitis as well as moderate hearing loss. Background noises make it difficult to have a conversation. This isn't just because of guns - power tools, engines, and guns all played a part.

Wish I knew now about hearing safety what I didn't know 30 years ago. My kids all wear ear plugs when in my shop, helping mow grass, etc, so hopefully they will be able to hear their kids [some day] without having to say, "Speak up," or "Please face me when you speak."

I have a set of the Remington muffs for my 4 year old guy. They're sized for little people and work well. The only thing he complains about is that they hurt when he wears glasses.
