Trying to figure that out....
Anyone hear anything good/bad about Cleland's out in Swanton, OH? What is their reputation, selection, attitude?

Anything you guys can give me info-wise I would be happy to hear....

I've shot there a few times. Decent place. Typical gun shop prices from what I remember, though it's been a couple years. I think I heard you can't rent their guns if you're shooting alone since a guy rented a gun from them and then shot himself in the range.

I live within twenty minutes of Cleland's.

Their firearms selection ranges from 'fairly decent' at times to 'not so good' at others. It is kind of a "crap shoot" as to how it will be when you go there.

Their prices are pretty typical gunshop prices usually MSRP's are the norm however, if your timing and luck are good you may find a deal or two there.

The pistol range is OK, not the best, but certainlly not the worst either. It is perhaps 50 feet in length and handguns are the only firearms permitted the exception being .22LR rifles, but that may have changed since it has been quite some time since I have shot anything other than a handgun there.
While the range is monitored by a CCTV system, the clientele there ranges from decent folks who are careful with their firearms and the direction that they point them to the "shady types" that make my "spidey sense" tingle a bit and seem to be there only in preparation for their next "drive-by" being planned for the area of Detroit/Nebraska Ave. of inner-city Toledo and don't care how many people they sweep with the muzzle of their 'gat' and since the only time that I will shoot on their range is when a representative of the 'element' is not present, I cannot say that I have seen anyone removed from the range for such conduct.
They do have a decent assortment of 'rental' guns available, however you may only fire ammunition purchased at the store in the rental guns since they are a bit leery about reloads possibly being fired in their guns and damaging them or hurting another customer. You do not need to be with someone else in order to rent one of the rental guns either.

As for their gunsmith, Gary Cleland, he is the only one whose talents I trust when it comes to working on any of my pistols or rifles and a really great guy, too.

Cleland's has a decent reputation, typical MSRP-based pricing and a really good gunsmith. Not a bad place afterall.
