Today I made a list of my firearms and the various catridges that I have and I found that while I have tried to cut down and standardize it just seems impossible I am always bringing home another milsurp or neglected firearm that needs a home. At least I am mainly down to military catridges. Here is what I have so far

.30-06 (7.62X63mm)
.308 (7.62X51mm)
.303 British(7.7X56R)
7.62X54R
6.5X55 Swedish
7.62X39mm
.223(5.56X45MM)

12 Gauge
.410 bore

.45ACP
.380(9x17mm)
9X18mm Makarov

This is after culling out 6.5X50mm Japanese , 7x57mm and 20 gauge. I still want to get a .45-70

I am thinking of converting my Makarov to .380 because the two catridges are so close to one another. As for the 6.5X55 I only have one rifle in that caliber same as the .303 and .30-06 all the other catridges I have multiple firearms chambering those rounds.

I really need to start reloading

.45-70

Shotgun

12

I could stand to cull a few rifles myself, I even have a couple that overlap (strange that I like having multiple handguns in a like caliber, but don't see the need of multiple rifles in the same caliber....need to think about that.

Odd thing is that I like rifles less than the other two platforms.

Aha! So you've been singing the same song as me: "The Caliber Blues."
I can hear the twangy guitar and the harmonica right now!

I've long since resigned myself to being an incurable firearms "junky." It would be nice, in theory, to only own one or two calibers, but I simply cannot do it. The only time my "addiction" (which isn't really an addiction but a passion) would be a problem is if I neglected some important bills, ran out of space, or failed to feed the family. I would never do that, so I don't even worry about it anymore.

Because ammo is so expensive, I was trying to reduce the amount of different rounds also.

Next week I should be down to:

.22
.22 Magnum

I've been pretty good in that dep't really.

I do have a .32 for carry, but I don't 'stockpile' mags or ammo since it is a mousegun.

While we're talking catridges, does anyone know where I can get 16ga. and 28ga shotgun hulls. With the prices like they are it pays to reload these and 410 shells. Thanks

Heck, I've got cartridges that I don't even have guns for yet, heh.
I have a few empty cases in calibers I don't have a firearm in. Mostly range pickup brass. no loaded ammo though, as far as I can recall.

I also have several firearms I have no ammo for.

You guys are gun *nuts*! :neener:

I only own one weapon at the moment, a Glock 17 which uses 9mm X 19.
The wife will get a handgun soon, and it must use the same ammo.
I am getting a 7.62 Nato using Rifle, and all others I get will be that also. I think it just prudent to do so. I have talked my friend into buying the same Rifle as me, (A FAL of some sort) so we can buy ammo in bulk, and train together easier. The Army has hammered uniformity into my little head!

Umm, What's your point?

You sound so steadfast in your endeavours, chime back in a year or so and let us know your list. You'll be forgiven for going overboard, we promise.:)

I've got too many calibers, don't tell my wife, I've convinced her I need some more. :neener:
