I tossed and turned all night long, positive I had either mild case of the flu, of a wonderful allergy attack. Great. At 0630 I rose from the dead, let my long suffering wife try to snooze, fed our zoo, and got my boy out the door to school. After making a cup of hot tea, I realized it was A) a wonderful morning and B) I wasn't going to get anymore sleep anyway because I feel like I've been run over, so C) let's go shooting! Now you see why my reputation never includes the words "brilliant" or "genius".
So, I load up the car, pack my self with some generic OTC meds, and this time, I remembered my camera and tripod! Yeah, can't have it there when I shoot well, but when I feel like dirt, Oh Yeah...
So, here we are, the local unsupervised range, just one bay of 5. This one is SUPPOSED to be 100 yards, but some bright boy told me he lasered it at 97 or 87 yards, can't remember which.

Setting up. Like the home made stool? Goes well with the home made target stand.

First up, my vZ-58, and reloads.

Ain't timed delay a great thing?

Well, I was trying to find a good load with H-335, as I ran out of my AA-1680, with no real way to snag anymore out here right now. This was the best with that.

So naturally, I had to dig some 1680 loads out just to compare. Dang. And these date from '06.

As usual, perfect, flawless function....waitaminnit, did I say perfect? Nope, a burp in paradise, my lovely rifle JAMMED on one reload...failure to feed.

I am betting on two things, bad load, and the magazine I was using wasthe worst of my reworked surplus mags - the really good ones are in the chest pouch. :) Switched to a differant mag, and no more issues, but that kinda torqued me a bit. The old saying kept running through my mind, "A bad day at the range beats a good day at work!"
OK, so, let's just run a few through the CZ P01, familiarization rounds, not trying for perfect groups, actually thinking it might be time to take some more Mucinex D...
Move the target closer - I can shoot at 100 yards with my P01, but not today!

So, dump a full mag of my favorite handloads in each one, rapid fire...

...oh. Joy.
All of you out there who are always screaming we only post our best groups, and never our bad one, here ya go! This is shooting with a allergy attack, limited sleep, etc. Ouch, this is painful...

At this point in time, I think there's really no more damage to be done, and all of a sudden a warm comfy bed doesn't sound half bad...and some Nyquil...

Your one bad rifle round....caused by first cousins of those evil gnomes that ding car doors in parking lots.. :D  :D

Pretty darn good shootin' from the rifle when you have a load that it likes..sorta like finding the right ammo for your .22 rimfires....

Pistol was roughly 15 yards, gah. No, didn't get the 25-06 out this time, was afraid I'd cough while looking through the scope, and wear a nice ring around my eye...

I always thought they were second cousins to the gremlins that steal the small springs and other miscellaneous small part when stripping down any weapon. And half-brothers to the gremlins that steal 3 grains of powder from one handload.

Looks like you had a nice day maybe Mrs. Armoredman will make you some chicken soup.

Sounds like a day at the range will make anyone feel better!

"A bad day at the range beats a good day at work!"

The only time that doesn't apply is when you run out of money to shoot away at the range!

Chicken soup and some shootin'

Can't get much better than that!

Hope you feel better, and hey, your shots were not really too bad considering all the "factors".

You forgot you were sick while you were setting up and shooting I bet. It's that awesome "rally" gene that us guys have. It actually helps with healing and fighting disease. If the mind is engaged in something more important than being sick, it will actually tell the body to feel less sick for a time.

Wait, who built those awesome unsupervised ranges? FIVE of them? Arizona is awesome. We should all move there, open carry, spend our winter related money on guns/ammo, buy border land and stop the illegals at the source. Whose with me? Hey, with that cancer napolitano gone, AZ will get even more pro gun
