Folks,

In this thread

http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=668444

I was asking about getting a shoulder rig or belt. I have no holsters at all for my pistols (Beretta 92A1 and Glock 19). No need to conceal, just to actually have the gun(s) on me when doing chores around the home and/or strap on in the middle of the night (as backup firearm even when I have the AR as the primary).

I finally decided I will just get a MOLLE belt so that I can configure the holsters and mag pouches the way I want, plus maybe add a flashlight holder, etc.

Having said that, I am again totally overwhelmed by all the MOLLE belt choices and do not know what is too cheap quality, and what is paying too much for good quality.

My aim is to get the basic MOLLE belt, and then two holsters (one for each gun, and the 92A1 doesn't necessarily fit into 92FS holsters always), and then one or two magazine pouches to add onto the belt.

Can anyone help? It could just be as simple as you telling me exactly which model/brand MOLLE you have, which works for you.

Thanks.

Are you talking about a battle belt ? Most MOLLE holsters will attach to a panel and this would be a drop leg type. Or am I missing something from your other thread?

Honestly, not knowing much about this topic, I can't even answer your question. I guess it is a sort of battle belt.

RC, I did not know even the military doesn't use MOLLE belts. In that case, I assume they put the MOLLE stuff on the vest, and just keep the belt free and clear?

So.... MOLLE belt not a good way to go for this home-holster thing huh? Hmm....

I think you're making this harder than it needs to be.

Get a Wilderness Instructor belt, either 5 stitch or CSM, in 1.5" width.

Then get a Blade-Tech SRB holster.

Both of these items are extremely popular and common. They are solid, and dependable. However, if you don't like them you can sell them very easy since they are so good and people are familiar with them. The Blade-Tech SRB offers a variety of attachment options so you can try different things out.

The GI pistol belt can be used to carry a lot of things.

Including the UMH holster & M9 pistol, mag pouches, bayonet, first aid packs, canteens, etc.

It can be dropped with one hand if you are drowning, or worn without your pants on the way to the latrine in the middle of the night.

In any event, it is not a MOLLE belt, as most all things a solder would carry on a pistol belt either thread through it, or attach with a Quick-Lock™ belt fastener clip.

I would second the 1 1/2" Wilderness Instructor belt, or any good gun belt that width.

It will fit most belt loops on most pants, and keep the gun & holster in place even standing on your head.

Hey, you just made it simple. Thanks. I noticed they even have the model listed (Beretta 92 with the rail), so it is good to go.

Cheers!
