Trijicon VS Mepro ????

I was looking at the FAV Night Sight thread and was extremely suprised to see that Mepro was voted higher than trijicon. Now, having limited experience with NS I have always thought that Trij was the leading manufacturer of NS. So the question is " Why mepro over trijicon? "

Most people like the larger outlines around the tritium vials on the Mepro's.

Personally, I prefer Trijicon.

When I had my G21, they had Mepro's on it. Bright and nice.

From what I've observed, I think the reason you see higher numbers of people with Mepros is due to the price difference between the two brands. Mepros are less expensive and the result is more people try them than the Trijicons.

Personally, I prefer the Trijicon sights. I have used them indoors, outdoors, in bright daylight, lowlight, and at night and I have never had a problem with them. They work.

In contrast, I have had several friends who had Mepros give them trouble (hence the reason I have stayed away from them). Additionally, I am familiar with an issue with Mepros and the P99. Some people have gotten Mepro rear sights that do not fit the gun and the customer service tells the people to grind on the slide to make the sight fit. -That's horrible advice. If a part needs to be permanently altered to fit with another part, it's going to be the less expensive part that isn't numbered to the gun.

I have read this on a website, I will try to locate it, if I cant find it again, im sorry... this was when I was looking for someone to refinish one of my guns.

Their is a gunsmith that only uses Mepro's. The reason he gave was that when he only used Trijicon's, and had trouble with 1 here and thier, Trijicon was a real hassle to deal with for a return, something like if he had bad sights, they were installed wrong/mis handeld. After switching to Mepros, when a defective one would come up he had no problem returning for a new one.

I for one like the Meprolight sights, They DO glow brighter than the Trijicons. I was able to see both the Trijicons, and Meprolight sights on a Glock 26 & 27, I was going to go with the Trijicons originally, their "the best" right.... well when the mepros glow was brighter, and the Meprolight was cheaper, and the warranty was right, Plus the good reviews, I went with the mepro's

I dont think you can go wrong with either one though, both Meprolite and Trijicon are licensed by the NRC to manufacture tritium tubes.

Yes, Meprolight sights have a warranty of 12years.

Well, Meprolight certainly has one of the worst websites on the net.

Apparently, there are no pictures of their sights.

Advantage: Trijicon.

Yeah, that is my problem too. I can't see pictures of the sights, and they are hard to tell apart from the descriptions. I have two pistols with NS, and have no idea what has what. Neither one has brand markings. If the manufacturers would just provide good, clear day/night pictures, I would be much more inclined to buy their products.

I have Triji's on a couple of SIG's, Meps on a Kimber, and Ashley (AO 24/7) on another Kimber. All in all, they all seem to work pretty well. Meps seem a liittle bigger/brighter, but they're also newer. The AO 24/7's are far and away the fastest to acquire into action. YMMV.

FWIW, I just picked up a Colt Night Commander that originally came with Trijicon's, I'll likely replace them with the same or 24/7's. They all seem to have a 12 year warranty (ain't marketing wonderful?)

FWIW, I installed Trijicon's on my 1991a1 compact right after purchasing it new in 1992-ish.

They still work well after 15 years.

I'm very happy with the trijicons on my Glock 22. I find them easy to pick up day or night, but I'd have no problem trying the Meps either.

I had two Glock 19s. One had Trijicon the other Mepro. I really prefer the Mepro's. Traded the G19 with Trijicons.

I prefer the Mepros. They are easier to see at night and day. The quality has improved over the years. The added bonus in using Meps is that they are cheaper than the Trijicons.
