I bought my first gun a few months back, a shiny (well matte) new Gen 4 Glock 23.
A family member who's gift giving skills now rate A+ in my book bought me tru-glo fiber optic/tritium sights for me as a bday gift to replace the stock plastic ones. Good, because I'm in the market for night sights.
However, I'm a little hesitant to install them. In middling light conditions (not outside, not dark) they seem less visible than the stock sights and thus I assume are less visible in the same conditions relative to Trijicon's, with their white outline.
I've also had it pointed out that in the 1/100000 chance I find myself wanting to rack the slide on my belt or night stand, the rounded front will make it near impossible.
Long story short, if you're looking to replace plastic sights on your glock with night sights, and somoene gives you a free set of tru-glo fiber optic/tritiums, do you install them? Or... do you eBay them and buy Trijicon's?
On a side note - love the gun. It's light, controllable, powerful, accurate, holds 14, and low maintenance. I completely understand the 1911 crowd just like I understand classic cars, but I wouldn't make one my daily driver.
