I am driving to Alaska through Canada to be a fishing guide. I have made arrangements to ship a .44 mag handgun up via airliner but I was curious how to get the ammo up there. I figured that the person taking the handgun would be able to get through the TSA inspections much faster without the ammo present. I understand that if a handgun and ammo go on the same flight, they need to be in separate locked containers. I was going to see about getting the ammo through Canada instead but I noticed that there is a restriction on hollowpoint handgun ammunition that requires a permit. I currently have a box of Nosler Partition Gold .44 magnum ammunition that I want to take with me. Does anybody have a suggestion. I looked into UPS to ship it up there and it would be cheaper to buy another box in Anchorage if I went that route.
