I recently made a thread asking for advice on the Springfield Armory Mil-Spec 1911. I'm considering buying one, but came across an online review after searching google where the guy said his Mil-Spec had a two-piece barrel. He even had pictures that showed a very faint-looking seam between the barrel and the barrel's chamber where the two pieces were welded together.
He mentioned that a two-piece 1911 barrel was not necessarily a good thing, but that Browning Hi Powers have had two-piece barrels forever without any problems.
So do the newer production Mil-Specs come with two-piece barrels? Do any other 1911s use a similar barrel? If the Mil-Spec does in fact come with a two-piece barrel, am I eventually going to want to replace it with a one-piece match grade barrel anyhow?
I'm still debating between the mil-spec and upgrading it over time or just saving for a Baer or Brown.
