Typical Saturday at "The Range"

Nice, but you shoot 11 different guns (6 rifles/5 revolvers) during a "typical" range Saturday?

i find myself taking fewer guns to the range at any particular visit- easier to clean one than two or more...

I usually take at least 4 for myself, sometimes (like the last time) I take 6 or 7. I actually find disassembly and cleaning therapeutic, as well as giving me a chance to stay familiar with all of them. Plus, with a 45-minute drive to the range, I only make it every month or 2.

Its rare that I make it out without at least 10 guns or so. Open range land so its a lot easier to transition gun to gun and I can shoot without waiting for anyone else like at one of them store bought ranges. Of course the best thing is its open range land with excellent natural back stops in the draws so its easy to do walking live fire drills and moving target ( balloon ) drills. If I go out , which is usually once a week sometimes more, I make a good 4-5 hours out of it anyway. My wife works one weekend day usually so I get a free day with my sons to do stuff like this. The 10 YO is turning to a crack shot. Cleaning and reloading are the rest of the week.

My truck used to look almost like that when I had just open areas I could go to...

Not anymore. Public indoor/outdoor ranges are just too much of a hassle to do that.

Very nice

Looks like you had fun, then came the cleaning !.

Was at range yesterday to prep for HR218 quals.

Shot S&W 442 = 50 rounds

Glock 23 = 50 rounds

Glock 43 = 40 rounds

Colt M-4 = 50 rounds.

Happy with them all.

But the G-43 is not as shooter friendly as the larger gun [ duh uh ].

I have brought 11 guns to the range and shot all of them before, but that isn't typical for sure. Usually it is two to five, and more often two or three.

Looks like fun yugorpk. I really need to do a tax stamp one day and get a suppressor.

Colt, S&W, Springfield, CZ, Taurus, it's all good.

Typical Saturday at "The Range"

Normal for me is two rifles. One to work on loads and one to give me something to shoot while the barrel cools. Two pistols, maybe the same caliber to keep the brass sorted. Maybe a shotgun for trap, but normally not, that is another night.

Nice mix between modern and traditional. I'd say shooting that many guns looks more like work than pleasure, but unless I'm missing something there doesn't seem to be a lot of ammo.

yugorpk

Nice selection of range guns; sort of like the "Old West" meets the "New Age Tactical". Definitely a lot of fun choices to choose from, though I would hte to be the one stuck with cleaning them all.

Walkalong

Likewise a fine assortment to choose from!

(suppressing that green envy monster)
Solo trip to old home place on the mountain, I often take just one .22 rifle;* nowadays that's usually Decoration Day.
BBQ /ATV weekends on the mountain, we would show up with our trucks loaded like yugorpk's Post#1.

I get a chance to go to the formal range and I start to pick a gun to take with me, they all call out "Take me! No, take meee!"
Look's like that's what happened to yugorpk. :)

See the ammo cans on the ground. If theres anything I dont lack its ammo.

Yugorpk's typical range day is a lot like mine. I don't shoot on open range land, but have a private range set up on my oldest son's property. Unless we are just making a quick adjustment to sights or testing new ammo, when we set up to shoot, we shoot all day. We take out the two portable shooting benches, and the clay target thrower. We spread painter's clothes on the ground next to the two benches to catch flying brass and if it's hot and sunny, we set up the canopy over the benches to give us shade. Between my two boys, the two D-I-Ls, the grandkids and me, we will generally shoot a minimum of 12-15 different guns(revolvers, pistols, rifles and shotguns). Sometimes it's friends shooting too with me/us or instead. Many times the grill is going and folks wander between the range and the cabin taking a break in between shooting to catch a burger or brat. Odds are, if the neighbors are around, after hearing a few hundred shots, they come over and bring their guns. Many times, picking up the empty cases and putting everything away has to wait till the next day because we run out of daylight. Then it's back to the reloading room........

Yep. Shooting is an all day affair with many if not all the guns, friends, friends guns, coworkers, coworkers guns etc.. Sometimes theres a BBQ involved if someone is trying to clear the freezer out of elk steaks .

To be honest I thought everyone shot like this unless they were so unfortunate that they had to go to a formal "range". Never did I expect "why do you have all those guns?" .

I have my own range and still pack a half to a dozen guns out there. I have to go nearly 200 yards to my range! I know, somebody call the whambulance!

Typical range day is about 8 hours. I generally bring 4 to 5 rifles and a few handguns with the 5th rifle just about always a .22 LR. The back of my truck resembles yours only enclosed (Yukon Denali).
