I just saw on the ABC Nightly News that the U.S. Military forces in Iraq are now demanding that all Iraqi citizens give up their weapons.

This won't work worth a damn, but what the heck is the military thinking? Officially, according to our benevolent leaders, we are not an 'occupying force.' So, why does the leadership think they can change the laws of another country at whim? :fire:

Of course, the military says this is to provide security for the Iraqi citizens but we all know what effect banning weapons has had. It has certainly worked for Canada and England.

We need to write a constitution for Iraq that includes a right to keep and bear arms, as well as capital punishment for those who commit serious crimes with arms.

While it sounds nice, the likelihood of anyone from our government writing a constitution for Iraq that gives the citizenry the power to shoot political figures ranks right up there with finding the Holy Grail.

Maybe it's a psych experiment... "Let's see if our soldiers will disarm citizens of another country. If they do, that'll lessen their resistance when they're asked to disarm citizens of their own country."
