You have it backwards. The early Universal has 1 operating rod spring while the later version has 2.

Yup - you're right! And that makes more sense. The earlier ones more closely follow the original design and are more reliable.

And I just pulled the stock off and mine has one operating rod instead of two. So, it IS the earlier version even if I brain farted on the design! Shows how often I clean my guns...

And it works just fine.
