They make guns but they don't make profit.

2010 revenue $175 million, net income a loss of $11 million
2011 revenue $208 million, net income $5 million
2012 revenue $213 million, net income a loss of $7 million
2013 revenue $270 million, net income $22.8 million
2014 revenue for first 9 months was $150 million with a net income of a loss of $28.3 million

One could argue that it would be difficult not to make money selling guns in 2013. So the fact they did is not remarkable. Most other years it was close to break even or a loss. This year is looking to be a major loss. The company even states they will have trouble making their May 2015 debt payments.

Will be watching this one and would to give them lots of money if they brought back the Python. Financially they are in trouble.

The debt is mostly from when they merged Colt Defense LLC with Colt holding Corp in 2013.... it was such a monumentally stupid thing to do, I have to wonder if someone is not trying on purpose to bankrupt Colt.

The Colt holding Corp bought all new CNC equipment in 2007-2010...

Then they started construction that new Fl faculity in 2011.

All things a healthy profitable Company does.

The Colt Defense LLC, lost the M4 contract in 2012

Then they loose the R4 Phillipine contract in 2013...

Then suddenly, they merged the Govt contracting weapons mfgr Colt Defense LLC with the civilian mfgr Colt Holding Corp in 2013.

IMO this is a purpose designed move to force Colts creditors, the state of Ct and probally the labor union into renegotiation.

Anyone that knows how finances works will know that bankruptcy isn't the end of the World. It can be a very powerful tool for big Companies... look at how many Airlines have done it.

Who cares about Colt anyways. Just compare one of their newer 1911 models to the ones they made 20 years ago and you will be able to see a huge difference. QC has gone way down.

From the little I've heard about Colt these days, I would think their days are numbered.
That being said, one would think another company will buy the Colt name and continue on?
