US closes book on Iraq WMD hunt

I still believe that the WMD were shipped to Syria.

Just before the war, a large truck convoy was spotted going from a suspected WMD site in Iraq, then going to Syria's Bekka valley. Several intelligence services and Syrian defectors stated that the trucks carried WMD. I think the report states it's "not likely" because there's high level secret negotiations with Syria about these weapons and terrorism in general, and they don't want a fuss made about it at this point.

Interesting.

Have any of you heard the audio tape that Powell played for the UN? In the tape, cell phone conversations were intercepted between known Iraqi military personnel. Direct quotes from the conversations such as "the site is clean, let the inspectors come." and "everything has been safely moved" were played on the floor of a UN session.

Either the means to produce, or WMDs themselves were there at one time.

It's impossible to know what was in those truck convoys. Money, gold, cultural artifacts, WMD or Elvis. Personally, I'd be more inclined to smuggle out loot than WMD.

This really annoys me. We lost a good amount of history already. Perhaps forever. Sumerian culture is the oldest record history of civilization... Sigh

If you want to believe some super-secret transfer of massive amounts of dangerous chemical and bio weapons occured, go ahead. Transporting dangerous NBC material is not easy. A single leaking storage container...

As "high level secret negotiations", heh. Righto. Word would have leaked by now.

At this point, yes.

But Israeli and Turkish intelligence indicated that they were WMD, and a Syrian journalist who defected also stated the same. That the trucks originated at a suspected WMD site, rather than a bank or museum, also points in that direction.

And we all know, that Elvis was kidnapped by aliens.

Yep, but it looks like we destroyed most all of them in the previous campaigns. Too bad Saddam didn’t know that or wouldn’t admit it.

Didn't we find a bunch of MIGs hidden under the desert, only found when enough sand had blown away to expose the tail of one?

How much harder would it be to bury drums and tubes?
