Here is a pole that is asking if the 2nd ad. gives individuals the right to bear arms.

Doesn't the right to keep and bear arms exist regardless of the 2nd amendment? The 2nd only recognizes the right. That's my understanding of the entire Bill of Rights.

Just a wild guess, but the disparity in votes might have something to do with the link address indicating a poll from November of 2007 that's being bounced from one gun board to another.

The founding fathers beleived that people were granted 'inalienable' rights by their Creator. The Bill of Rights lists those rights which were so obvious that they were not listed in the original Constution.

I voted "Yes" even though the 2A doesn't "give" us the right, God gave us the right, the 2A simply says that government DOESN'T have the right to infringe on said God given right.
