Use car wax on a firearm?

I use Reniassance wax on my blued guns and oil-finish stocks. I usually do one of my shotguns a couple times a year, once after summer trap and once after winter trap. The rest get cleaned after firing and waxed every few years.

On a CC firearm its not a problem, but I tend to get my guns pretty hot so I'd be worried about discoloration when it burns off.

Ren Wax is the best; I use it on guns, knives, my Rolex watches... it's great!

Not cheap but a litttle bit goes a looong way.
