Used Glock 26 Gen. 2.5 any good?

I saw a used Glock 26 the other day at a pawn shop and put some money down on it so that they can keep it for me. I went back today to put some more money on it and found out that its a Gen 2.5 (has finger grooves without the checkering). Taking a more thorough look at it, it seemed to be scuffed up up a bit and the barrel had slide marks on it. I took it apart and the internals looked pretty clean. The serial prefix starts with CMR, and from doing some research I found out that it was manufactured in 1998. After seeing how old it was, I was planning on buying it and selling it privately to avoid having to pay their restocking fee. I wanted to know is $400 a fair price for this gun? Are Gen 2.5 Glock 26's good to go? Should I just keep it and clean it up? Are older Glocks better than newer Glocks? I know it's alot of questions, so thanks for your patience and responses in advance.

These days, I'd say $400 is a fair price for a Glock.

Don't worry about it. Used Glocks are the hidden gems in the gun world. Buy it. Shoot it. Enjoy it.

I think mine is a 2.5 It was purchased new in 2001 from a LGS. I love the pistol, have a zillion magazines in every size and configuration known to mankind, and would never part with it in this lifetime. If my used 3953 turns out half as good, I will be thrilled !

Gen 2.5 sounds like $350 to me. Glocks 26 gen 3's are a dime a dozen for $400

I see them all over the locsal GS for 400. People trade them in for $300 to $325 and the GS ask $400. I bought my Gen 3 G26 from a friend but we were not sure of it's worth. So we decided that I would give him $50 more than they would in a trade. It would be a win/win for both of us. They offered him $300 and I gave him $350. It's not like G26's are these rare pistols. At least not here in SE pa. there not.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'll be picking up my Glock 26 on monday. I might get a local armorer to give it a once over. Everything on it is replaceable, so therefore, I have nothing to worry about.

G26 gen 2.5s go for up to $700 in Massachusetts. Sell it there and pick up a brand new one, gen4 with NS.

LEO trade-ins at nearly every gun shop in the US.

Low round count with holster wear equals a cheap buy for a lightly used gun.

My LGS has a 23, 27, 26, 29 all priced between $375 and $449.

ya 350 sounds right but because of the gun craze right now you could probably put it on gun broker for twice that.

Nothing wrong with a 2.5 gen Glock 26. Nothing wrong at all.

Talk him down a bit if you can and get it. Couple of 10 round mags with Pearce finger extensions or maybe Glock +1 mags, a good IWB Kyndex holster, and a box of two of Winchester +P+ 127gr JHP and you are good to go.

I've owned subcompact Glocks in 26/27/ and 33 (in fact have all three now) and they are all excellent and reliable. The 27 and 33 can be a handful with top loads but the 9mm, even with +P+, is shootable with right or left hand.

I'd say it's better than a new gen4. You get one of the guns which Glock built its reputation on. The new Gen4's give you the "upgrades" of a stipply grip, an oversize mag button, and a MIM extractor. I would pay more to not have any of these things.
