Used Handgun Prices Coming Down?

Yeah, they are edging down---until O'bummer starts talking about "gun control" again, sooooo buy now!!

I've noticed new gun prices also going down. Demand is slacking a bit, until that presidential gun salesman starts a'jabbering about gun control. So yes, now is a good time to buy.

The used gun selection at Cabelas now takes up the same amount of display space that the new guns used to. The problem is the price is out to lunch on their used guns. New guns are priced great, used... not so much.

oh, common' now

preposterous
God, I love that word.
In another mind- * never * doesn't happen in this country.

Yes, as the demand lessens from people having less disposable income, prices will come down to meet that point. It's elementary economics.

I think the demand is lessening, but due to the same reason the supply is increasing. Realistically you really only NEED but so many guns. Most people if they wanted to could easily get by with 4 guns - a shotgun, a .22 rifle, a deer rifle, and a handgun. If REALLY tight I could probably get down to just a shotgun (my Remington 870 would literally be the last gun I sell).

As the economy tightens, I think some people are just getting rid of some of their guns - particularly the older ones which don't step on possible AWB toes, so they're not so afraid about being able to reacquire them later if they want.

YEs but only slightly and more so in Non-HiCap handguns. Seems everybody is scrambling to get a hicap before the media fueled door closes.

agree on used guns at Cabelas

9Agree on used guns at cabels. Prices are much higher than at gun show if you can find what you are looking to buy.

Pocket gun prices seems to be coming down, So many new entries into the market. Ruger and Sig coming out with pocket size 9MM so will see a lot of smaller caliber guns for sale.
Ruger will be the C9 and Sig is P290

Depends on where you look. I have spent a good deal of time finding my "go-to" shops that I know have the best prices on used handguns. If I want new I have one I check first.

I wish I lived where you guys do. One local shop I rarely visit, that means once a month or so, had a total of 6 used firearms, three shotguns, one Win. 70 in 22-250, a Taurus 24/7 and an H&K 45. None were priced to move, handgun selection in general was less than half what last visits was. Seems new carry laws in my state have every pistol flying off the shelves at full price.

Cabelas is nearly 4 hours away, even longer drive in this snow.

some of the distribitors dropped prices on most firearms and as stock rolls over I hope to see the prices drop to the public. used firearms around here are not really dropping.
Went to a show a couple of weeks ago and only saw a couple of pistols at what I thought was a good deal.

Did see a few on tables last weekend that I also thought were a fair price.

My take on it is that we have many factors going right now.
on one hand you have folks that are hurting and need to sell off a few guns and more folks that have great collections getting rid of their firearms due to death or getting older.

Then on the other hand we have a whole lot of folks out buying firearms right now but most are buying new guns as I see it.
I also see a bunch of older collectibles coming on the market and alot of deals in those and not many are bringing book so values are there.
