Using a 3 hole plate in a 4 hole Lee classic turret press?

I am currently loading .45 in a lee classic turret and want to drop in a three hole turret to eliminate having to cycle the press and extra time to get into position, I am not currently using the fcd. Any particular reason not to do this? I am assuming the 3 hole turret plate operates in the same way in the press.Thanks.

It will work but you have to get the conversion kit from Lee to use the 3 hole plate on a 4 hole press.

You might want to check with Lee on this one, as I'm not entirely sure the 3 hole can be fit to the 4 hold and still have automatic advance. It may end up you're just as fast or faster with the auto advance and the four hole vs. the three hole and manual advance.

The top mounting plate is different for the 3 hole and 4 hole turrets. Lee sells the conversion kit to change over your older 3 hole press into a newer style 4 hole press but you can't interchange the turrets without changing the top plate.

That's easy to fix, just bolt a Loadmaster down next to it...

I swapped the three hole top from my older Lee turret to my new Classic press, but I don't (and have never) used the auto advance feature.
