The trigger is perfect when the hammer is already cocked, but the league I'm in requires guns that can decock must. When I get my grip on the pistol and thumb knocks safety off, my trigger finger is just not comfortably close to the trigger and must extend.

I understand the trigger is adjustable, can I adjust the DA length of pull?

Step One: Put you USP Tactical back in it's box.
Step Two: Drive to gun shop
Step Three: Tell the person behind the counter that you want to trade your USP Tactical in for a gun with a descent trigger.

All kidding aside the only adjustment on the Hk tactical grip is the over travel, that is what the screw in the trigger is for.

Gray Guns can do a trigger reset reduction, but they recommend it only for range guns, not for any guns to be used defensively.

Convert the USP to safety only, with no decock function. It's easy to do, you just need to call HK and ask for the correct detent plate. Costs a couple of dollars, total.
