On valentines day I had no idea what to get my GF. She has been wanting an AR for a while now so when I went to my freinds place and saw that he had an Essential arms AR-15 stripped Lower reciever I bought it. Then I bought a cheap box of candies took out some of the candy and stuck the receiever in there. Then I went to my girlfreinds work and I gave her the candy box. She seemed happy enough just to get candy. But then I told her she should have one so she opened it up and found the AR reciever. She was happy to see I got her a reciever for her to do a build. Then she looks at me and says "where the rest of it?" I told her that was up to her and then she asked me if Id help her build it. Of course I said yes. So hopefully we will have fun building her new rifle. Im sure it will be a valentines gift she will actually rememeber.

You are one lucky feller. Hang on to that one!

Up here in the liberal northwest, you'd be Exremely hard pressed to find a female interested in firearms, much less building firearms, much less finding a firearms-related gift ROMANTIC, and that is a severe understatement.

Is this kind of gal common where you're from? I clearly need to relocate.

Yeah she mentioned painting it pink or some such thing. But that will remain to be seen. I wouldn't say gals interested in firearms, shooting or building firearms are common here in Maine. But your more likely to find country gals who are used to firearms and may even own some of there own. I only know a few women who are firearms enthusiasts.

I konw lots of women that are into firearms.
Most of them carry one as well.

You need to help the GF out in the rest of the build.
Don't leave her hanging, get it done soon.
Help her pick a "build kit" from a good company.
My wife just like handguns,I'm working on her though!!!!

I bought myself one for Valentines Day. Rock River Tactical Entry. Supposed to be here Saturday.

Right now, I'm looking at slings and VFGs. Guess I'll call that Easter. :)

I bought my wife a 1911 a few years back--that was a big hit.

Look at the duracoat colors, you can purty that AR up nice.

Y'all have fun!

That's fantastic! My Valentine's candy box just had chocolate in it. I would have even settled for a box of .45 ACP. :p

Been a while Since I have been to THR but I thought I would update the thread on the AR receiver I bought for my now ex-girlfreind...

So I gave her the lower for valentines days 07 she never built it and we broke up in January 08 and she didn't want the receiver. So I gave her $100 for it, to be fair.

However I built up a rifle of my own using it:

Essential arms receiver
Rock river lower parts set
Colt M16A1 upper/barreled action
Rock river bolt and carrier
Unknown charging handle
M16A1 pistol grip
Unknown M4 collapsing stock and buffer tube
M16A2 round hand gaurds (or M16A1 triangular)
M16 3 prong flash hider

So its a bit of a monstrocity but it suits me well. It shoots very well and the upper lower reciever fit is great! I think the upper was never used.

In any case I decide to name the rifle the Heart Breaker :)

When one door closes, another one opens. And it is usually for the better.LOL

Congrats on the build, hope you have fun with it.

Sounds like what I did to my girlfriend too. We also ended up breaking up, but on good terms and we are still great friends and shooting buddies. We also did end up building the rifle together. Maybe giving an AR to your SO causes breakups? ;)

No worries all is well. Its definitly for the better and we are still freinds.
As for the rifle I really dig it. I will do what I can with Pictures soon.
