Varget - What Do You Use it for?

I tried it in 270 with mediocre results. But 308 is a different story... Varget, win brass, cci 200 primers, and 168 sierra bthp or btsp is the only thing my 308 shoots.

Love Varget! I use it in .223, .22-250 (light bullets), 6mm BR, .308 Win, and (90 Gr JHP) .270 Win. I wish it would meter better, but it always seems to shoot well.

I use it in

.222
22-250
6mm Ackley Imp.
7mm-08rem
7-30 waters
308win (cast boolet loads & jacketed) works awesome for long range target work!
30-06 (cast boolet loads)
303 British
35rem
35 Whelan
45-70 Govt.

Works great for me!

Non-magnum rifle loads from 243 to 45-70.

It doesn't meter well in my Dillon press for small bores, but as the diameter increases the better it meters.

I've found it to give me the best balance of speed, accuracy and temperature insensetivity in my 308's. RL-15, 4064, and 4895 were very good in some areas, but not the all around winner.

I've used it in my .223 reloads, it fills most of the case up and makes it easy to find any questionable powder drops.

.223 Remington with 55 gr and heavier bullets
.243 Win with lighter (75 gr and under bullets)
6.5x55 going to try it with some 120 gr bullets
.308 Win for my wife's nephew's new rifle
.338 Federal, only so-so, better results with IMR-8208XBR and TAC

I have use4d Varget for:

.223
.22-250
.243
.308
.30-06

It shoots pretty good in about everything, but IMR-3031, IMR-4064, and Re-15 are all better (for me) overall. If it was the only powder I could get, I could live with it. YMMV.
