Those who have seen my posts over the years know I put togethor some interesting and sometimes cool CZ guns. The slides/frames from other CZ's put togethor to make a unique but very functional gun. I think CZ actually got this idea from me :neener:
Anyway......here's a cool little shooter. I dont know if it works this way or not, just yet but Ill find out soon enough.

Its a PCR 9mm topend on a modified CZ40B frame. So its a short slide 9mm with 17 rnd capacity that can be carried cocked and locked, in a 1911 style alloy frame.

Thought yould like it.........

Shoot well..........

Nice  Let's go shoot it.

I might try and put one of those together myself. Oh wait, I traded my 40B to some weird holster maker.

I could get the slide to fit on the 40B frame, with mine, but couldn't get the slide and frame to FUNCTION together.

What did you have to do to make the darned thing WORK!

On mine, the trigger wouldn't work.

(I'll bet it had to do with the firing pin block, now that I think about it -- it has to push up on a plunger, and I'll bet it wasn't the right place.)

I'm assuming Eric got his experiment farther along than I did, or he wouldn't be bothering to show it to us.

Ill find out this weekend. So far so good..the FPB activates perfectly, the hammer falls...it will cycle ammo through the mags and eject them, the mags lock the slide back........

I dont see any reason why it wont work..........ba ha ha ha ha evil laugh

Shoot well.

I once tried this in reverse, putting my 40B slide on my PCR frame out of curiosity. (This was before CZ started offering compact .40s.) I saw a couple issues with this: The obvious one is that the PCR's dust cover wasn't long enough, leaving a significant gap between it and the slide. The P-01 frame that was used to create the 40P has a longer dust cover. Next, that the rear sight of the 40B blocked the PCR's hammer from contacting the firing pin. This has been corrected in the 40P by cutting a notch in the bottom of the rear sight. Also, the slide would've required a guide rod with the standard CZ sized head instead of the larger 40B guide rod head. The 40P addressed this issue by using the standard compact plastic guide rod. At the time I didn't notice the difference in frame lugs/slide stroke distance that has required the plastic spacer used in the 40P.

After reading the initial post in this thread I tried my PCR slide on a 40B frame as well. It looks to me like the only issue with this swap might be the different frame lugs/guide rod. I'd be inclined to adapt a 40B guide rod for this purpose by shortening it. (But perhaps this issue is one of the modifications you indicated you did on the 40B frame.) Anyways, good luck with your tryout and let us know how it works.

My question to Eric is why? That being said I've put my PCR upper on my 75B lower and the 75B upper on the PCR lower (this makes it feel more like a BHP due to the shorter grip). They work fine in both configurations, but caliber is the same, 9MM.

I guess Eric's answer will be "why not?". :)

Eric was using the 40B frame, which was designed from scratch to be a .40 frame, and has a different grip. There are subtle differences, as I noted in an earlier response.

The top ends of all the CZ-75 based guns seem to interchange, but the 40P slide (which is really the 40B slide), when mounted on a P-01 frame, doesn't work. But the frame that comes with the 40P is a P-01 frame, modified in some way to make them compatible. Some 75B 9mm slides will work on some 75B .40 frames, but not all; the reverse does not seem to be true.

Eric was trying to get a hi-cap 9mm using the 1911-style grip frame of the 40B. I would be a very comfortable and relatively compact hi-cap 9mm, with cocked and locked capability, but lighter than any other CZ compact with that same capability. (All of the cocked and locked CZ compacts have steel frames.)

It would be an interesting gun. Shame it doesn't work. (But it doesn't surprise me that it doesn't work.)

Ahh, I understand now. I guess if cocked and locked is important to you, then that would be a good reason. However, I'm fine wiht the PCR which is light and comfortable enough for me to carry. No C&L, but that's not a deal breaker for me as I carry the 75B with hammer down also. Still an interesting experiment Eric. Thanks for the clarification Walt.

P.S. I'd love to get the CZ-75 Retro. So many guns so little $$$.

Well.......Walt nailed my intentions. A light weight, CCW with a zillion bullets......
But guys its not gonna work. The slide doesnt retract far enough. When it was locking back before.....it was interference in the hammer/slide.

So much for my little experiment.......the SA Walt has with the PCR slide was an absolute treat to carry..............I still miss that gun.
Shoot well..............

I've bought a couple of guns from PCRCCW -- a wonderful 75B SA (that a gunsmith of his acquaintance tuned a bit). The gunsmith then moved away and nobody know where he is. He was very, very good. I also bought a nice 75 Compact from PCRCCW, too.

Eric has made a lot of guns very nice, and then sold them. His loss is our gain. <grin> He seems to enjoy the trip rather than getting to the destination.

Darn! I never THOUGHT about putting the Compact slide on the 75B SA frame!

Walt, Thanks for the kind words......I sure try to make my guns "mine" and they turn out pretty decent most of the time. The good thing is the trip is just beginning ...........Thanks again, Shoot well.............Eric

I'm going to chime in and second Walt's comments about Eric/PCRCCW.
I bought a Ruger SP101 .357 snub from him that is still the sweetest revolver I've ever had, better than advertised and he threw in a couple of holsters in the deal as well.

By the way Eric, I'm still on the hunt for a PCR duo-tone 9mm.
Keep your eyes peeled & let me know if you (or any of the rest of you, for that matter) come across one!

Sometimes you just can tell when someone's "good people".
Eric falls into that category. :D
