Do these Colt 1911 markings appear genuine? If so, what is the vintage of this gun approximately?

Thanks! Cal in TX

No. The original serial number has been removed and Bubba has restamped bogus numbers on it. Bad juju! Steer clear.

Shame too. Looks like a reasonably decent pistol otherwise. WWI vintage M1911, reparkerized, with plastic M1911A1 grips on it. Looks like the frame had rust and was blasted. Most likely a post-WWII arsenal rebuild. But the serial number is a dealbreaker.

Before you drop more then $400 on one of these you need to know every part in and out and what they should look like. Take wartime Ithaca barrel could be High Standard or Flanery,........
It's obvious that frame # stamping does not match the rest of characters in indentation depth and clarity. I would think The Gun Digest Book of Firearms Fakes & Reproductions would be good start for you.

Might be an aftermarket frame. Could be a great shooter.

But I wouldn't spend much money on it. Assuming it is fully functional and you won't want or need to do much work on it, think about $400-$600 (depending on how bad you want it).

I'm with Rondog on this one. Bad Karma!!

Left side of the frame looks legit, but right side is definitely Bubbaed.

Run! Don't Walk!
