Vintage optics for a vintage rifle

Scarfed up a Weaver K2,5 post reticle scope, plus vintage rings and bases, for my 1949 Winchester Model 70.

I know the scope is from about 1949-1950 because of the bubble type adjustment covers, the black dials and the external screws on the saddle.

The rings are the Weaver single piece type, and I needed to take off the ocular and the lock ring to mount the rear scope ring.

I love those old..

steel tube Weaver scopes. I have a 10x on my custom 243, a 2-7 wide view on my Rem 700, and a 2.5 on my custom 308. I will buy any steel tube Weaver at flea markets/gun shows, that I come across if they are cheap. I have three K4s sitting in my drawer now. chris3

I been doing the same with the o;der .22 rimfires I've collected over the years. GunShop near me sells take offs from trade in for $10/$15 bucks no matter make or model. Nice to get an old Weaver from the 1950 for a rifle from the 50's for $15. Same goes for the older ones from the 1940's.

I have an original Stith side mount for old Win. Mod 70 rifles. Sure is a cool mount. Wish I had an old Mod 70 and a Lyman Alaskan to mount on it..

I have found my eyes seem to get better focus with the old Weaver K scopes compared to Leupold M8's.

The newer Leupolds are for me the most clear.

I love the old weaver steel tubes! Have 2 k4's a k3 and a 3-9 variable in the parts drawer, and would swap one of my kids for a good k6!
The k10 works well on my 243, too!
