So, I've migrated over here from awbansunset when I saw how active it was about s1805 debate(that was excellent, thanks for the great info) and I was watching the s1805 debates/etc. (let my senators know what I thought too, not that it matters)

Anyway, the point of this is, does anyone have a record of who voted for Kennedy's AP amendment? This should have it: Roll call vote, but doesn't (yet?) I've also checked a few other locations, but can't find any other lists of who voted for it.

I was thinking that, since most of these senators are saying that they support hunting rights and such, well, voting for an amendment that would ban 30-30 (I believe Teddy said that in the debate, right?) pretty much shoots that down. Did Kerry vote for it? I'm thinking he did. (Of course, he's out in my view simply because of his vote on the AWB, but this might take care of others.)

So, final point being, the hunting magazines and such need to pick up on that, and that might start to get more hunters involved in this fight.

Thanks for any info you can give.

cdpruden, welcome to THR, and your idea about getting the info to hunting mags is a great one. I subscribe to quite a few of them and they seem to be all over the board on gun rights. Outdoor Life for example, has been very pro-gun, in the manner of "AR-15s are just as important as your double barrel." I have noticed that Field and Stream in the last year, has been almost anti-gun, and definitely of the "hunters and hunting guns have nothing to worry about -- it's just those evil black rifles" mentality. I think this 30-30 comment of Kennedy's could definitely wake up hunters if it's disseminated widely enough.

IMHO Ted committed second degree murder on the person of Mary J. Koepeckne. I think he was blotto drunk when he drove off that bridge. At a minimum he should have at least been a convicted felon for leaving the scene of an accident where someone was injured. Us average peons would have been.

Why is a such a digraceful person like this allowed to infuence our laws? I guess If you have lots of money, thats all that matters? Worked for OJ.

Well, natcherly the Senators Boxer and Feinstein voted for it. I hope we can dump Boxer this fall, but I'm not confident of that.

Russ, what you said about Teddy "the swimmer" is correct. It's just appalling to me that he got off. He left that young woman to die.

I don't have a good memory for political events that far in the past, but I seem to recall that he was making a run for president and didn't get the nomination. I've heard it said that culpability in the death of Ms. Kopechne spared the rest of us a Ted Kennedy presidency. Apparently, Massachusets doesn't consider that a severe enough offense to deprive him of their votes for him as senator. :barf:

Redhead,

Boxer is a real hard target to get removed, but it is essential to fight hard against her. She is the ATM machine in California, even making her spend more dollars on keeping her office hurts her. Fienstien is more vulnerable but its a couple of years before that battle starts.

Where Boxer is vulnerable is on her enviromental record, and there are a lot of Californians that lost their homes to fires last year as a result of her fruitcake policies. Fighting the gun platform in California will not get her gone, focusing on her other many faults will.

Redhead,

Boxer must go, but the political climate in CA probably favors her. Why?
I have no clue (well maybe a little).

I lived in CA for 45 years and before I die, (if I am able) I would like to vist my hometown of Pasadena and my ancestor's graves. I will always think of CA as my home.

I think that most people in the CA don't have a clue what Boxer stands for. They don't pay attention and they vote for the person listed on the ballot as "incumbent". That's the way Alan Cranston kept getting eletcted for so so many years. My Dad used to refer to Alan Cranston as the "cadaver". If you saw him on TV or in person, he looked like death warmed over so the description fit him.

I think Bill Jones is a real stand up person and is good for gun rights. I just don't know if enough of CA residents will vote for him just because Boxer, is listed as the "incumbent" on the ballot.

I'm gone from CA for now but if I could, I would vote against the people who have ruined our freedoms.

Good luck to you out there. Hope you can turn it around. I think it's possible.

I'm probably preaching to the chior, but tell your friends what a traitor Boxer really is. I still have many freinds there and I "preach" to them every chance I get.

Good luck. Hope this election sees Boxer go into retirement.

Russell

Just hammer this home in rural America like West Va, Arkansas and Kentucky.

Kerry is a dumbarse for voting for this. At least Edwards didn't vote.

I wasn't surprised to see the "Hunter's Friend" Kerry's name on the list of yea's. Now how are they supposed to hunt with no ammo? I guess just shot guns and hand guns. What a tool! :barf:

Good quote of Sen. Kennedy that needs wide distribution on hunting boards:

SEN. KENNEDY: Another rifle caliber, the 30.30 caliber, was responsible for penetrating three officers' armor and killing them in 1993, 1996, and 2002. This ammunition is also capable of puncturing light-armored vehicles, ballistic or armored glass, armored limousines, even a 600-pound safe with 600 pounds of safe armor plating.

It is outrageous and unconscionable that such ammunition continues to be sold in the United States of America. Armor-piercing ammunition for rifles and assault weapons is virtually unregulated in the United States. A Federal license is not required to sell such ammunition unless firearms are sold as well. Anyone over the age of 18 may purchase this ammunition without a background check. There is no Federal minimum age of possession. Purchases may be made over the counter, by mail order, by fax, by Internet, and there is no Federal requirement that dealers retain sales records.

the part I will never forget is kennedy's screaming rant after I believe Senator Craig of Idaho mentioned 30-30 for hunting rifles and kennedy screamed armor piercing ammo for sniper rifles and assault weapons. repeatedly. :barf:
