If I set it up 2 inches high @ 100 yrds how far out will I be good for ??

If I set it 3 inches high how far do you think ??

Thanks in advance for any help !!!!!!!!!!!!!

:D

Roughly: 2" high at 100 gives dead on at 200 and about six inches low at 300. I'd have to guess about the 3" high, as I've not liked the idea of holding low at 100, but I'd think it would be an inch or so high at 200 and dead on at around 250. Maybeso 4 inches low at 300...

Me, I've always sighted in for dead on at 200, since for hunting that's the most likely "point-blank" system for the typical shot at Bambi.

The deal with 3" high at 100 makes it too easy to goof on a neck shot.

2" high would most likely be the best. Still, there are other factors you have to contend with. Bullet weight and velocity are two major ones.

If at all possible get out to the range and actually shoot 200-300 yard targets. That way you definitely know beyond a shadow of a doubt where your bullet will land and if you can even engage a target at that distance accurately.

i always zero at an actual 250 yards (sight the gun in, not relying on calculations or guesses). this translates, for most of my calibers (read: magnums) into about 2-2.5" high at 100.

i avoid neck/head shots if at all possible, so the issue of blown low-percantage shots doesn't come into play w/ me at any range... 2.5" high at 100 will permit a dead-on hold from 0-300 w/ your 270 wsm.

good luck. and, no, i don't have the 270 whizzum...but i do have the 300 version.

edit: you need to get out and shoot the rifle to determine your max range, rather than rely on best guesses and ballistic calculators. shooting on hills will have a dramatic affect on where your bullets impact, too... just can't substitute for lots of practice.

Actullally I went out yesterday to sight it in.
Well at a 100 yrds I finally got the bullet holes touching each other
Shootin' 130 grain factory winchester ballistic silver tips 2 3/4 inch high at 100
So I thought I should leave well enough alone !

When I bought this rifle the trigger was right around 7 pds. I adjusted it down to 4. Man, I wish I could get it a little lower but I don't think I can do it.

Got rid of the Simmons that came with it & the rings & bases & replaced them with leupold rings & bases & a Kahles 3x9 scope.

After doing the trigger I could't get "Stock" screws to torque " I was afraid I would strip them " they where phillips head " wide " so out they went to &
in went a set of B-Square allen head screws !

That made it so much better !!

Can't wait for the season to start !!!!!!!!!!!
