The only reason I don't buy guns from Wal-Mart is because they don't sell anything I want. But then again, it's getting harder and harder to buy reasonably priced blued N-frame Smiths anywhere.
I do, however, buy handgun ammo there. Why? One reason is because it is reasonably priced. I can, and do, buy some ammo just as cheap in some of my local gun shops. The main reason I buy some of my ammo there is because I want them to keep selling guns and ammo. Hells Bells I'd even pay $1 or $2 more per box if I could buy it at Walgreens or Safeway or Chevron.
When I was a kid every hardware store at least sold ammo. I recall a few Mom & Pop grocery stores that sold .22 rimfire ammo. I eve recall a local "Beer Depot" that along with block ice and bait sold .22s and shotshells. But sadly, our government "by the people and for the people" has made that damn near impossible anymore. I remember the day that Sears put up signs saying that they would no longer be selling Handguns. It was a sad day and a sign of things to come.
I was sorry to see K-Mart cave in and stop selling. Which is the main reason I won't step foot in one anymore.
Two or three times a year I make sure and buy some ammo from Big 5 Sporting Goods and I'll even stoop to buying some at G.I. Joes' and put up with their rude and incompetent service just to show support for any large sheep filled store that still has the balls to sell firearms and ammunition. The general population of fence-sitters NEEDS to see several shelves filled with ammo. Racks of guns, without glass. Stacks of guns cases and displays of targets. And of course we MUST flaunt it in from of the antis.
I buy 95% of my meat at a locak full service butcher shop. Their prices are lower than any of the local grocery stores and Sam's Club and quite often lower than Costco. And the quality is always higher. I'm glad most people don't because the 4 or 5 ladies behind the counters are always busy. If they had any more business they couldn't handle it.
You'd think that the large chain stores would have put them out of business but it isn't so. They are thriving.
I have over 15 gun shops or pawn shops with nice gun departments within a 10 mile drive of my apartment. another 5 or 10 within 20 miles. None of them are comolaining about going broke. One just moved into a larger building a few blocks up the road from their old location. That's not including the big chain stores.
There will always be a place for GOOD small shops. They will offer services and products that the big chains won't.
If you don't like Wal-Mart don't shop there.
But don't you dare have the audacity to tell me not to. That's a right you have NEVER had.
Instead why don't you invest that time into fighting to keep the rights you DO have.
