I'm looking for small size gun for my wife.
Bought for her Ruger LCP.380 but she had real problem because gun's light small frame and recoil is hardly manageable. Looking now on Walter PPX 9mm.
Does anybody know good and bad about this gun?

I don't know if it matters to you, but the PPX is not a small pistol. It is a full-size double-stack pistol.

As far as the PPX goes, most reports have been very positive, as they are for all Ulm-produced Walther pistols (as opposed to the Umarex-produced junk like the PK380 or P22). The biggest complaints you often see in reference to the PPX are its ugly looks and high bore axis.
 
I say NO....

I looked into the 9x19mm Walther PPX. It looks good for new or entry level shooters but it feels like you're holding a hair dryer. :(
I read a few - reviews of it too. If you really want a PPX, get the stainless model & look for Davidson's lifetime warranty. If the pistol chokes or breaks, you won't be burned. A better idea IMO is the Walther PPQ m2. It gets great reviews.
There are other good choices for a new shooter. You can buy a M&P Shield no thumb safety in .40 or 9x19mm, the Glock 42 .380acp, the SIG P290RS, the P250 in 9x19mm or .40; the sub compact or compact, the Glock 27 .40S&W, the S&W SD9VE or the SD40VE. Smith and Wessons also have lifetime service plans.

The Glock 27 gen 04 would be good if you want to quickly convert it from .40 to 9mm or .357sig with after market barrels. Glocks have many parts, holsters & accessories.

I love Walthers but the PPX is a little too budget friendly for my tastes. I have bought and sold enough budget firearms to know to save and spend just a touch more.

Keeping with the Walther line, the CCP looks fairly innovative. Might be worth looking into for selection. Pocket mouse guns like the LCP, TCP, P3AT aren't designed to be manageable or enjoyable to shoot. Their primary focus is conceal ability and recoil management takes a back seat.
 
If you want to save some money, pick up a $400 CZ P07, or 09, more rounds better ergo's. The PPX is an Ok gun, but looks like a High Point. It really does. The Cz's are a bargain. If you want small you need an XDS, or PM9.
 
Maybe....

Plus 1 on the advice of a XDs in 9x19mm or .40 but Id get the 4.0" barrel version. Id look to buying the 4.0" format .45acp XDs but there are about 15 different weapons Id buy first. ;)
It's a nice pistol & can defend you but there's a lot of good stuff on the US gun market in 2014.
 
I know it is a lot of to choose from -:) that the reason I asked for advice.
I'm looking to spend around $400, and it needs to be 9mm, she had problem with shoulder and .45ACP would be too much of recoil.
 
I have a Walther PPS, 9mm. I like the fact that it has 6+1, 7+1, and 8+1 magazines. The recoil is manageable and the gun is like all Walthers, reliable and accurate. That said, if she is looking for a small gun with minimal recoil, I would look at the G42. I like the G42 so well it has become my EDC.
 
Look in to the Ruger SR9c. With smaller hands it may be a good fit, and the price is around what you are looking for. I shoot it better than my G26, and I like the fact that it has a safety when I carry.

That would be a much better choice for the intended use in my opinion. It is a small gun that shoots like a much larger gun.

I wouldn't even consider it, being that it is an Umarex-made gun (and it hasn't even been released yet).
 
I was just looking at a new PPX for $379.00. Nice trigger and the big 3 dot sights really pop out at you. Not the prettiest gun in the case. I think it's good value for under $400.00, but I think I'd rather spend the extra $ for a PPQ M2, strictly my humble opinion.
 
I wouldn't get the CCP either. I only mentioned it because the OP's wife sounds recoil sensitive. The recoil management of the CCP looks like it would fill that need fairly well. If it were a pistol for myself or a moderately experienced shooter, PPS no question.

Did not know it was an Umarex firearm. I was hoping for Ulm.
 
I found PPX for $339 that the reason I'm asking about this gun.
also found Smith & Wesson M&P9 Shield 9mm for $359

Ha! I am a big fan of the Ulm-produced real Walthers (P99, PPQ, PPS), but the PPX (which is also a quality-built Ulm Walther) leaves me scratching my head a bit.

It does so many things right (build quality, trigger, reliability, price), but some other design choices just fly in the face of good design (which Walther had been perennially known for) and the lessons learned over the past 30 years or so, such as the ridiculously high bore axis, overly busy and chunky design, and weird grip ergonomics.

I understand it's a budget pistol, but that's really no excuse. Walther could have knocked this one out of the park, but the result is just a "meh" at best.

I guess we should be happy they at least they didn't saddle it with an unnecessary manual safety or mag disconnect like the budget Ruger 9E.
