A few years back my wife sent me a link on the Walther CCP. She was interested because she has a difficult time racking the slide on her PPK/S.

I told her we need to go find one and let her handle it and see how she likes the feel and the action. Maybe at a gun show, where so many different guns can be found. She liked the idea, but since then we've always had too many things distracting us from going to a gun show.

Well, I went to the Hampton, VA gun show yesterday, since I couldn't be back home in SC this weekend, and got a chance to handle one... the CCP M2.

I like!

It feels gooooood in my hand, slim, smooth and easy racking, more pleasing to the eyes than I thought. (Esthetics are important...I won't own an ugly gun!)

I'm thinking of buying one for myself. Of course, what this really means is my wife will lay claim to it when she finds out, but that's all right!

Anybody here own or shoot one? It comes in 9mm and .380 (9mm kurtz). I'd prefer the 9mm, but it's a fixed barrel design, like her PPK/S. Her PPK/S is a hard hitting gun on the hand for a .380 because of that.

I do not own one, but thought they had a great idea when I first read about them. Then I saw the mickey mouse take-down routine, and lost interest. I see that they have since redesigned, so would be interested, especially at an attractive price. Pros include ergos, size and retarded blowback. Cons are capacity, sights and heat from extended firing. Here's the Sooch video:

My wife has one. We shopped at a gun show for hours trying different guns in her hand and she decided on the CCP. LGS had one for $299 NIB so we got her one. She shoots it great and the reduced recoil is a plus. ~1,000 through it without a hiccup.

Two potential issues: while the slide removal of the G2 is improved compared to the G1 it is still more involved than most pistols. Also, the gun uses a gas piston to delay blowback. It heats the gun up fast and will become rather hot after 4 or 5 magazines.

Heh...soooo, buy two?

(I know this will happen one my wife tries it!)

Lennyjoe, can you speak to the heat issue mentioned above. Does the trigger area get too warm to use after a certain number of rounds? Is takedown a pain and if so, why?

When I get one, I'll post a review on it and make sure it covers this.

Heck, I've even got an IR thermometer I can use for comparisons between guns.

I've enough guns to shoot that a higher temp after 300 rounds wouldn't be a problem...just pull out another for a while!

Yinz boys must love mag dumps! Have a squeeze cocking P7, and never noticed a heat issue with it. But then, I never pretend that it's the 3d day at Gettysburg, either... ;)
Mentioned the P7 because it works on the same gas retardation principle (as did the Kraut's last ditch volkespistole). I'm active on the Walther board, and don't recall much activity on the CCP forum; have to take a look. It seems like an idea that should work.
