In our college gun club, we were having a debate over the use of reloads in a firearm. I told them that most "horror" stories form reloading come from the carelessness of a reloader, trying to cut corners, or not reading all the instructions. Ive used and made reloads for years and never had a problem. One of the points that he was trying to make was most gun companies say using reloads voids the warranty, one of and tried to argue with me that if your gun explodes and it was factory ammo, then they would reimburse you for your losses. I dont think this is true, unless it was the gun that malfunctioned, I do not believe that a gun company would replace a firearm under warranty if it is caused by an ammo malfunction (even if it was commercial ammo). I'm interested to see other peoples views on if a gun company would cover it (of course different companies might treat it differently)

I do remember reading an account on here regarding a Saiga, I think it was, that blew up with Wolf ammunition, and Wolf paid for it.

I don't know about the gun companies themselves, though.

They don't condone usage of reloaded ammunition for the same reason that car companies don't condone rebuilding your own engine.

If you're a competent reloader, and the gun should malfunction while chewing through your (properly reloaded) ammunition, post-failure testing should reveal that chamber pressures were within saami specifications and thus the failure was a result of a flaw in the firearm, not the ammo.
