Here's a question for Washington State Hunters.

My son and I drew a group permit for the desert unit which runs from October 27 through November 4. This unit encompasses the Columbia Wildlife Area and the potholes reservoir. Although I've lived in Washington most of my life (Puget Sound region) I've never been to the potholes. Have any of you guys or gals hunted this unit? What's the best way to hunt this unit?

Thanks for your advice.

I've spent a good bit of time recreating in that area. More fishing and boating than hunting.
Deer hunting is on my mind every one of those days though!
Most often see deer in the coolest time of the day, of course, early AM and often too late-to-shoot evening.
They seem to stay out of sight during the day. Bring your best optics and try to make a scouting trip, locate some vantage points, look for the water sources/green spots. I've spooked a few deer out of small low areas, likeley they were in there looking for a drink. Good luck!
